First Lt. Kenneth G. Larsen, company commander, reports that the Army and National Guard have agreed to a new type training that is to be given all National Guard units during this coming year. The new training will divide the men into two groups, an advanced group and a basic group. The two groups are to receive mostly eomb at training this year. Training in use of the engineer equip- ment will be given the latter part of the summer camp next year and in the year to follow. ,By that time all of the new men eoming into the unit will have had basic combat training from the LI weeka or six months training course the Army now has. Lt. Larsen also reports that the strength of his unit has been cut from 128 to 124 men due to the Army's economizing cuts. He states there is a waiting list of men wanting to get into the unit and some men have lost their draft deferment because they did not get on the list soon enough. Any young men planning to Join the unit should get their names on the list as soon as possible by contacting Lt.
