The city is located in one of the great resort states of the middle west, a State which boasts many trout streams and more than 11,000 lakes. The city itself was once a fur trading post, having been founded in 1701 by Cadillac. In the year 1900, this city had a population of 285,704 people. Industry Indus-try has since raised that figure to the extent that it is one of the nation's largest cities. The city has many tall buildings. Some of their names: Penobscot, Book Tower, David Scott and Barium Tower. Here in the nation's third largest manufacturing city, one product has given this city the title "Motor Car Capital."
