He said that surveys are being continued by the State Road Commission, and he has been assured that the widening program will be carried out in the near future. The commission feels that the part of Center St. between the D&RGW tracks and State St. can be improved soon, and the removal of tracks west of the D&RGW line is still receiving consideration. Feasibility of installing some sort of signal at the intersection of Center and Main Sts. to warn of the approach of trains was discussed. An extra red flasher, operated automatically when a train is approach ing, was suggested as one possibility. Another was the arranging of the stop light so that it would stop Main St. traffic while trains are approacing and passing. An innovation on Center St. will be the installation in front of the city hall of a mail box at the curb, so that motorists may drop letters in it without leaving their cars. Two parking stalls will be painted out to permit use of the new mail box. . ' Applications for building permits in the area reserved for the freeway just east of the D&RG tracks brought a discussion before the council. The council had previously gone on record to grant such permits, but Councilman David L. Warner declared it was his opinion that it is "poor public service to permit people to build homes which must be torn down in a few years." Before further action is taken, city officials will write to the Bureta of Public Roads at Ogden for more information on the likelihood of (Continued on back page) Couple Observes 501h Anniversary 3 Midvale firemen answered two calls during the past week.
