The triathlon is open to Defense Department civilian employees too. Unit sports representatives have more information about signing up for the above events. Soccer team wins in fall opener The Hill Strikers Soccer Club opened its fall season Saturday with an impressive win over Utah North Soccer Association rival, Oaks Soccer Club. In the game, the Strikers had the advantage early as the Oaks played two players short. Striker Jesse Espinosa scored Hill's first goal of the season as he out hustled two Oaks defenders and beat the opponent's goalie. Striker center Andy Hub blasted the ball irto the Oaks goal soon e'terward to give Hill a lead at the half. In the second half, the Strikers started to wear out the Oaks. Andy Hub crossed the ball to left wing Paul Kim, who scored to give Hill a advantage. Espinosa later scored his second of the match to give the Strikers a advangoal 4-- 2-- 1 0 short-manne- d 3-- 0 4-- 0 tage. The Oaks team fielded one goal late in the game for their lone score. The Strikers next play Saturday at 3:30 p.m., against their archrival Azteca. Saturday's matchup will be played on the South Gate soccer field. Plenty of seating is available for spectators. "This match is always a big one for us," said Coach Ray Uris. Last spring the two teams fought over the league championship. Azteca eventually won the match in double overtime. In July, the two teams again met in a championship match, this time in the Ogden Soccer Showdown tournament. Azteca came out ahead, 2-- 2-- 1 5-- The Hess Fitness Center is accepting entries for its recreational fall volleyball league. The league will play on Monday and Thursday nights for six weeks. At the end of the six weeks, n the center plans to hold a tourney. The league is open to all active-dut- y military and Defense Department civilians and their family members 18 and older. To register, a team needs to stop by the gym and pay a $100 entry fee. Deadline to sign up is Sept. 20. League play starts Sept. 30. The Hill team won one game in the competition (against a Cannon AFB, N.M., team) and lost against two other teams. Hill went to the tournament after qualifying in regional competition. More than 64 teams from across the United States participated in the Labor Day weekend tourney. Hill team members are: 1st Lt. Tim Cook, TSgts. Dave Abbott and Don Cunningham, SSgts.
