State offers anglers fishing forecast for Labor Day weekend excursions As the last summer holiday approaches, many anglers will be on Utah's waters capturing memories which will last a lifetime. Warm-wate- r fishing is at its peak now, with striper boils at Lake Powell and great trout fishing at higher elevations. Provided are a few suggestions for your Labor Day activities. Willard Bay- - Wipers are chasing "boiling" shad and fishing should be good using baits. Use small lures when in a wiper boil. Mornings or evenings are the best times to try. Smallmouth bass action is hot using jigs on the east shore. Catfish fishing has been good. Bluegill and green fishing is good in the channel and off the east and south dikes. FishLakes of the Uintas ing at the roadside lakes has been really good, especially with flies in the evenings. After the first, hard frost, fishing really picks up and fish can be caught all day long with flies. Some large rainbows are being caught in the bays on worms and powerbait. Fly fishing from tubes is spotty, but some anglers are doing well near Indian Creek and the mouth of the Strawberry River.
