Show New Utah! (Lehi Free Press Edition) - iliWW lli " mam A Springville woman flagged down an officer to report V that she had been assaulted by a Lehi woman; inasmuch as the former was taking her daughter to work, however, she had no time to give the officer any details. The officer went to the Lehi woman's home to get the scoop and discovered her bailing water out of her car. According to the local woman, the Springville woman incidentally the current spouse of the Lehi woman's had taken a garden hose and was trying to fill the Lehi woman's car with water. According to the Lehi woman, when she tried to wrest the hose away from the intruder, the latter allegedly assaulted her; the Lehi woman told the officer that she wanted to press charges of assault and criminal mischief. After taking her daughter to work, the Springville woman returned to the police station to give her side of the story. She claimed that she was the one who had been attacked and wanted to press similar charges against the Lehi woman. A Salt Lake City man, stopped for expired registration, was later found to have an open container of alcohol in the car. Dispatch advised the officer that the registration had expired last November; the man admitted to the officer that he had placed a bogus sticker over the legitimate expired one. in the car, however, was real. The car was impounded and the officer transported the man to a local convenience store to await alternative transportation. Registration stickers are apparently easily obtained in Salt Lake County, for a Draper man said that he had purchased a 1999 sticker from a friend to hide his expired registration. That little sticker was only the beginning, though. This man was booked into the Utah County Jail on charges of driving under the influence (DUD of alcohol, possession of marijuana and possession of paraphernalia; by the way, he also happened to have a $365 warrant from West Jordan. He was also cited with expired registration, no insurance and a fraudulent license plate. Observing a vehicle with no visible license plates, the officer found that the owner not only had an outstanding warrant, but drugs, too. A passenger in the vehicle was also booked on charges of possession of tobacco and consumption of alcohol. A Lehi man reported the theft of more than $2,000 in audio equipment from his vehicle while it was parked at the Unofficial Lehi High School Used Car Sales Lot. The driver told the investigating officer that the passenger door was the likely point of entry since it doesn't lock. (Sales doesn't seem to be the primary method of ownership transfer at this lot, does it?) A Lehi couple reported the theft of cash, checkbook and nearly $4,000 in jewelry from their locked apartment while they were away on errands. A convenience store in American Fork alerted the couple to the missing checkbook when they found the checkbook, minus the checks, but with the duplicates still intact. Another Lehi man reported the theft and subsequent forgery of checks after finding out that at least two checks had been forged at a local business. Both cases are still under investigation. k f s atm m-r'- Geri Thomas Susan Ferguson David In the first of two prize drawings promoting subscriptions to New Utah!, the four vacation winners are: Susan Ferguson, Lehi; Geri David Thomas, Lehi; Edgecomb, Pleasant Grove, and Orval and Carol Harmer.
