Dr. Carl Bell hopes to resurrect American Fork's popular Utah Pageant of the Arts Could the Utah Pageant of the Arts make a reappearance in American Fork? The popular format, setting to real life the masterpieces of sculpture and paint from the world's most revered artists, was a major force in the community for a number of years. It ended only shortly after a group of its supporters moved it to a Salt Lake City location. Now there is an effort to revive life-as-a- rt the Utah Pageant of the Arts. Dr. Carl Bell has registered the name with the state Department of Commerce. He is seeking community members to help bring back the production. "This is simply an invitation to interested citizens," he said. "We want to see if there is an interest in reviving it. "I've spoke with many people in our community regarding the what it meant to us Pageant and how they feel about resurrect ing it. Everyone's sad it's gone, and most would really like to see it back. So I think there's interest." Bell has initiated negotiations for theater space and feels the production could get onto the stage by the summer of 1999. "We are soliciting people who might be willing to form a committee to organize and brainstorm," he said. "It will take a community effort, just like before. If we bring it back it will be with the recognition and respect deserved by those who created it in the first place. "The more experience with the Temple. "It's not a matter of starting completely over," he said. "Sure, the sets and costumes are gone. But the knowhow is still there. And just knowing that it would be successful is encouraging." He hopes the production would reflect the excellence of the com- munity. "For many years it was the icon of American Fork," he said. "American Fork is a first rate city; it would be important to do a first.class show when we do open it." Brooks 0 i 1 ii4 i- ii - Steven Gunn 110 West Main iV' S 1 ...
