Show Free Press - Wednesday, November 29, 1995 - Page 8 Lehi swimmers continue assault on records With Lehi's dual meet swimming season over, the Pioneer swimmers and divers continue their assault on the record book as they improve their times yard freestyle relay and grab the gold in a record 1:37.45 time. Lehi's Brad Savage continued to dominate the diving event beating Tooele's best by 24.35 points. Matt Alva finished third in the board one-ha- lf weekly. Last week they traveled to always-tougTooele to take on one of the top 4A programs in the state and came home just 13 points short of the team gold while setting two new Lehi records in the event. Overall h Buffalo pool. Kenny Bryson the Lehi swimmers won nine first place ribbons, six for the boys and three for the girls. Nicole Wycherly beat Marcy Skelton by .44 seconds in the women's 50 yd. freestyle. Sarah Worlton finished fourth in the event. Jackie Hadfield went out slow in her first split of the 100 free but sprinted past Tori Wright in the second lap to win by 14 of a second. Lehi's other first for the girls was in the 200 freestyle relay where Season Chamberlain, Worlton, Wycherly and Hadfield and Troy Shawn Peterson's 200 yard Individual Medley record which was only 11 days old with Bryson's time, 2:17.87. Koltermann finished second but ahead of the record. Koltermann and Bryson, Peterson then teamed with Shawn Ross to knock off Tooele in the 200 Koltermann beat Tooele's team by 4.24 seconds. In addition to Bryson, Savage and the freestyle relay team's golds, Peterson easily won the 500 free in a 5:27.63 clocking, 23 seconds ahead of the first Buffalo finisher. Bryson also earned a first in the 100 yd. breaststroke. A first in the men's 200 yd. medley relay with Peterson, Bryson, Kolterman and Ross swimming the various strokes surprised Tooele by nearly two seconds. The strength of any team sport is in the depth of talent that they are able to field, and the Pioneers have plenty of skill in the second, third and fourth spots. broke not-yet-co- ld Lehi's women's 200 yd. medley team of Chamberlain, Worlton, Hadfield and Jenilyn Tucker finished second, while Marcee Taggart, Jenny Holbrook, Erin Larson and Angie Krebs were just seconds behind in fourth. Applications are now available at all Division of Wildlife Resources Offices and will be due between Dec. 1 and Dec. 30. Thirteen units throughout the state will, combined, provide 174 Rio Grande turkey permits in 1996, while 355 Merriam's turkey permits will be available for four units in Southern Utah. The future of turkey hunting looks bright for Utah hunters as 60 sites have been identified to receive turkeys. Mitchell is excited about the future and explains. The focus of our management effort right now is to annually travel to other states to trap wild birds for release in Utah. We have a lot of habitat in the state for turkeys not currently occupied. We have also established experimental winter food plots for birds in Southern Utah in conjunction with the Utah Chapter of the national Wild Turkey Federation and U.S. by the American Fork Historic Preservation Commission Spend a nostalgic holiday evening as you wander through charming homes in the still quaint city of American Fork.
