Show RWU IS 7th, 8th grade football teams top season Early History Of American Fork M. Bv WILLIE NIELSEN Lehi sixth grade football team started out as a concern, as always, coming into the season. It was the boys' first year of feeling the sting of that first hit. But this year's class really took their athletic abilities to the next level. Coach Donny Hadfield knew he had some talent in the Hadfield twins, as well as the hitting of Smith and the running ability of White. The contributions of assistant coaches Southwick, Smith, Gause and Washburn helped keep the team focused on playing in that championship game. As the season progressed more outstanding play was exhibited by Southwick and Dustin Beal with the support of Gause, Sandmire and the rest of the dynamic team. This future Pioneer team completed their first year with a second place finish. Lehi's seventh grade football team produced an exciting season. With such a large turnout of young talent, the seventh grade had to be split and become the Pioneers and Pioneers I. The Pioneers were placed in the hands of Coach Lee Trulock. He brought on the staff of Mellor, Jensen, Mills and Nielsen to prepare these boys for the tough season ahead. Sammy Trulock really matured as the team's leader. And he was assured good things would happen with Beal and Thacker pounding the ball down the field. The offensive line was small, but Nielsen, Marcus, Larsen, and Barnes early injured Morehouse found success in blocking and moving the ball. With the exciting catching of Gray and great contributions of Roseman and many others, the Pioneer offense went a long way. This class was loaded with talent like Smith, Benson, Thacker, Colledge, Nielson, Worthen, Nerdin, the Southwicks, Wilson, Holindrake, Barney, and on and on and on. Coach Chad Smith has molded this group of athletes into a winning crew, both on and off the field.
