Pioneer Profile Lehi Hieh's StndpntK,, President, Lance Magnusson, son of Lon and Lori Magnusson of Pleasant Grove, is this week's Pioneer Profile. Lance, whose personal creed is "be excellent to each other," is a happy and extremely hardworking young man who enjoys helping others and, according to his family, is very easy to live with. Besides being studentbody president, Lance is highly involved in school sports, having lettered three years in football, track, and basketball. Last year, he was selected second team all region in basketball and he also received an LHS Athlete of the Week Award. Lance is a member of the Pleasant Grove Manila 4th Ward where he has served in all his In community activities T has worked with the Booster's Club in painting the press box and bleachers, and has helped in beautifying the grounds at the high school. He's participated in the National Triple Crown Basketball tournament held in Boulder, Colorado, where his team took third place, and he's been a mem priesthood quorum presidencies. 1 1 $ He has also been active in the scouting program and has participated in many Young Men's service projects. The LHS team was scheduled to meet Springville yesterday (Tuesday) afternoon, and they host Cyprus next Tuesday, H&R Block is offering a Basic Income Tax Course starting September 7th in the H&R Block South Orem Office. There will be a choice of morning, afternoon or evening classes. Coach Alan Wofford has the makings of another championship team on the LHS tennis courts with the likes of Mandy Hadfield, Shannon Urry, Larissa Lew and other expected to swing the rack- -' ets against region foes. Lehi golfers are ready to take to the links for their annual competition. They opened with a match at American Fork yesterday. The LHS harriers have a reputation to keep in tack and they seem to have the runners to bring home the gold Cross-countr- y - - ; ; 'ft again. The highlight of the evening was the traditional Purple and White football game which completes three weeks of intensive training for the LHS gridders. Nearly 50 varsity and junior varsity players squared off against each other in a scrimmage which ended 20-- 8 with the White team "winning." Of course, the coaches, players and fans are the real winners as they get their first taste of real contact, and the coaches and fans have a point from which to evaluate the potential of the team as they work toward the first game at Logan this Friday. Speed in the backfield is lacking, but the Lehi lines will be something other teams have to deal with this year.
