Mrs. Madruga is from Orem and works as a registered nurse in cantly in the past three or four years. This is the result of a program sponsored by the Utah State Office of Education known as Comprehensive Guidance. Some of the patrons of the Lehi schools have heard about Comprehensive Guidance andbeen involved in its development, but many are unaware that the program is available to serve the students in our community. The purpose of the Comprehensive Guidance Program is to allow school counselors to better serve the rapidly changing needs of adolescents. The Program stresses student academic achievement, career and educational decision making, and personalsocial development. Counselors work with students, parents, teachers, and the community to provide a variety of guaranteed services in each of these key areas. The concept of Comprehensive Guidance infers that school counselors are expected to assist all students, not just a select group, as they attempt to balance the demands for academic performance, social acceptance, and career preparation. Counselors help students to examine their interests and abilities, learn about the world of work, and develop their decision-makinskills. Two west coast residents, both graduates of Brigham Young University, have been welcomed to the staff at Sego Lily Elementary. Sarah Hobbs graduated in April 1994 with a bachelor's degree in early childhood education, with a minor in elementary education and is now teaching an afternoon kindergarten class. With her father in the Air Force, she was 'actually born in Paris, France, but grew up in Kelso, Washington. Mrs. Hobbs enjoys reading, writing, crafts, camping, swimming, and socializing with people; in school, her favorite subjects outside her major were journalism and sing The chapter is selling a trailer, which would be good for utility and snowmobile use. Rob Braithwaite took second high individual in livestock, having judged against approximately 800 people. - About 185 posters made by almost every one of the seventh grade students, as well as student's in Dale Peery's Quest - lined the halls of the school during the drug awareness campaign. Rob Henrie's entry was selected as the first place winner, with a cash prize of $10. Other winners and their prizes included Natalie Allison, $8 for second place; Heidi Patterson, $6 for third place; Mandy Fischer, $4 for fourth place; and Katrina Powell, $2 for fifth place. Two turkeys were awarded in the Turkey Toss. Matt Alva and Mr. Roberts were the student and faculty award winners, respectively. In the girls' three-poicontest, Mindy Downs captured the eighth grade title and Mindy Devey won for the ninth grade; both girls received basketballs; Judd Peck and Dylan Young were their counterparts in the boys' competition.
