Show Free Press - Wednesday, July 29, 1992 Kent Day receives 1992 Excellence in Teaching Award from BYU Alumnus Several teachers, students and other personnel have been recognized for their accomplishments by members of the district board of education. Kent Day, a teacher at Lehi High School, is one of eight in the state chosen to receive the 1992 Excellence in Teaching Award from the Brigham Young University Alum ni Association. In choosing teachers for the honor, the association selects high schoolsfrom across thecountry that have at least 30 former students on the BYU campus. Utah schools had at least 200 former students. The association sent ballots to the students asking them to name three teachers in preferential order who had the most impact on their lives. The general student response indicated that they appreciated the expertise of these teachers in their individual areas but also acknowledged that demonstrated compassion was a significant factor in learn- School District were winners in the America's Freedom Festival at Provoessay contest. The new state record is 3:58.39 which breaks the old record of 4:00.22 set by Clearfield High School in 1984. Coach Art Taylor is pleased that all four girls will be returning for another year at American Pork High. Two students from the Alpine Discovery. Daniel emphasized that one can go anywhere to find old and new things as long as we respect the rights of others. Ashley created word pictures of discovery times in her life and emphasized important aspects of self discovery. Melinda Sherrell, principal at Shelley Elementary School, has been named the Elementary School Administrator of the Year by the Nominations accepted for Alumni Hall of Fame Plans are now underway to select graduates to be recognized in the Lehi High Alumni Hall ofFame.
