Coordinator Richard Willey said there is a real need for volunteers to befriend an individual resident at the Developmental Center and ensure that the resident's needs and rights are being met. Volunteer advocates are matched with one resident and then are asked to visit the resident at least once time each month. The time is spent getting to know the client, as well as attending Developmental Center staff meetings regarding the resident's treatment. "Some of the residents have no family who live close enough to help monitor the care being given," said Willey.
