Ruth Meranda was honored for her 23 years but, Mrs. Greenwood said her hours werevnot available at the time of the awards luncheon. Years of service certificates went to Grace Jensen, Electa Smith, LaRene Ashby and Irene Earl for 15 years service; Margaret Barratt and Erlene Burrell for ten years; and Louise Harris, Martha Alice Driggs and Blanche Cook for five years. Mrs. Greenwood said two long time volunteers had passed away during the year - Leona Larson and Emma Parker - and noted their many hours of service to the organization. Roberta Auxiliary Adamson, president, also gave brief comments. Each auxiliary member present were given a corsage as a momento of the occasion. l.Come hear & f Professional color analysis vice-chairm- f Doctrine History of Volunteer Auxiliary members honored ii Is 1; t'ji ' hospital. of the Volunteer Members Auxiliary at the American Fork Hospital were commended last week for their service to the hospital staff and patients. C. Richard Devey, of the hospital board of trustees, speaking briefly at the annual awards banquet for the auxiliary, said auxiliary members have the "satisfaction you are helping others. I commend you for your service to the hospital, to the community and for the love and care you show the patients." LaRae Greenwood, Hospital also Volunteer thanked auxiliary members for the service they give. "We all need positive strokes from each other and the positive strokes you give'the patients and the staff are appreciated," she said. Craig Smedley, hospital administrator, also thanked auxiliary members for their service. He said the 75 auxiliary members had given 17,000 hours of their time to the hospital this past year - the equivalent of 8.5 employees. Asking what is a volunteer, he explained it is "someone who gives of their self and talent for the benefit of others. He then asked who benefits, and said it is the patients, the hospital -"it makes us run more smoothly" -and the community. the mammography Noting " machine the volunteers gave the hospital, he said it has saved lives through providing early diagnosis of breast cancer..
