Whimpey received his education in Lehi schools, graduating from Lehi High School in 1971. He was a member of the National Honor and served as a Society A native studentbody officer. He continued his education at Dixie College where he was Freshman class president, a member of the Young Democrats, and Delta Psi Omega He attended BYU majoring in social work. He is presently employed as a social worker at the Utah State Prison. He is a member of the Utah Public Employees Association. he has served on the Miss Lehi Committee, and as a member of the Lehi Parade and Special Events Committee. He is of Democratic Party in Lehi, has served as a delegate to the county and state Democratic conventions. He was named an Outstanding Young Man of America in 1982 by Civic-minde- vice-chairm- the Jaycees national organization. He married Marilyn "Myrt" McCusker and they have three daughters: Christy, Lexy and Molly, and through the past four years they have had over 100 teenage boys in their home as foster sons. She has been employed as a social worker at the Utah State Prison for the past three years. She has had eight years of experience with private and public agencies doing internships and volunteer work. Some of these agencies include: Utah State Hospital, IDS Social Services, Division of Family Services, Juvenile Court, and Utah Valley Crisis Line. Carla helped Carla Heiniger Carla Heiniger grew up in Denver, Colo., moved to Utah in 1974 and has been a resident of Lehi for five years. The oldest of four children, her parents, one brother and one sister all reside in Utah County. Carla is the mother of five daughters. Financial pressures are upon Lehi and decisions made today will effect Lehi for many years to come. For that reason, the decisions made in city government are critical." G. Kent Shepherd G. Kent Shepherd, Progressive Party council candidate, was born Dale C. Ashton Dale Carl Ashton, candidate for city council on the Democratic ticket, was born in Lehi in 1943. He is a graduate of Lehi High School and Seminary and received a degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Utah. He also graduated from I.C.S. in He Structural Engineering. attended graduate school at University of Utah in Engineering Administration and became a registered civil engineer in 1974 and a registered structural engineer in 1975. He married Deanne Peterson of Provo in 1962 and they have five children. He has worked for major consulting engineering firms in the Salt Lake are for the past 15 years. At the present time he is employed at Hercules Aerospace Co. as a in Fairview in 1937. He moved to Lehi in 1947 and has lived here since that time. A graduate of Lehi High School, he attended Brigham Young University and served an LDS mission to the Great Lakes Mission. He has held numerous positions in the LDS Church and has served as bishop of the Lehi Eighth Ward. He has been a member of the North Stake High Council for five years and is presently scoutmaster in the 14th Ward. He was a member of the Lehi National Guard for ten years, belonged to tie Jaycees, and travels regularly to southeast United States ' on behalf of his company. Kent is employed as a sales manager of the carpet department for Midwest Floor Coverings Inc. in Salt Lake City. A son of Mr. and Mrs. Aaron Shepherd, American Fork, he is married to Leita Strickland and is the father of five daughters: Jill, Judy, Heidi, Kenna Lee, Hannah and one son, John. He also has one grandson, Tyler. "I feel I have an obligation to give something back to my community. He attended Utah State in Logan and later received an associate degree in Technology from the University of Utah. He has taken business and accounting classes from Brigham Young University. Dee married Karlyn Evans and they have six children, four still at home. Dee's father, Daryl Fowler, was mayor at the time of his death in 1948. His mother, Kate Fowler Austin, still lives in the family home with her husband, Cliff Austin. Active in church activities, Dee has been Scoutmaster, on the High Council, Bishop of the Fourth Ward, and is currently Young Men's president. He has served in various positions in the Republican party, a member of the board of directors of the Chamber of Commerce, chairman of the Red Cross Fund Drive and president of the Lehi Jaycees. He was national sales manager for the Galigher Company in Salt Lake City and in 1976 founded Fowler Pump Company and moved the operation from Salt Lake to Lehi in 1978. The company has sales of several million dollars annually and ships its products nationwide and to several foreign countries. They now have 26 employees and have plans for continued growth.
