A box has been prepared to be opened in 50 years from now, or in the year 2030 during the Jubilee anniversary of the Church. Under the direction of the Relief Stake 1 1! pre : f Lehi Free Press Page A-- 7 18. 1980 - 1 Hallowed ;1 presidency, Calvin Swenson, local banker and furniture builder, was asked to build a box to hold mementoes of the Relief council Society of 1980. Swenson, high representative to the Relief Society, accepted the assignment and at first secured a black walnut tree which had been cut down on some Lehi property. However, after some research it was found that after many years glue wil not hold in this wood. Swenson then decided to build a box of cherry wood. The box has a plaque on the front, noting the contents and advising when the box should be opened. It is also complete with a lock and key. Mrs. Carma Price, Stake Relief Society President, together with her counselors Mignon Poulsen and Jean Peterson, invited ward Relief Societies to write a brief history to be placed in the box and a stake history was also compiled. Pictures of current and immediate past Stake Boards and committees are included in the box, as are testimonies and letters of Relief Society members from throughout the Stake. "Since we opened the Susquicentennial box which contained letters written 50 years ago I have felt a personal closeness with those sisters," Mrs. Price stated. She noted that perhaps not many of the people president at the Jubilee Box closing would be present when it was opened in 50 years, but hoped that letters placed in the box would bring the same spirit of love and understanding that the present box did. Following the closure of the Jubilee Box, it was presented to Alvin G.
