It was even published in the Free Press, the improvement district was dissolved on 200 South. On Monday, June 25, however, curb gutter and sidewalk were put in. The citizens fought it and won, but the concrete went in when the "citizens simply expressed what they would like left out." What protection do we have against a group of elected officials if they don't know how to listen? Second: "Coun-cilwoma- n Brown said the lack of public interest by citizens of JoAnn is Lehi disturbing leaves the with no public input by which to navigate." Again, I sincerely, hope this is a summary quote out of context. Because if it isn't, Councilwoman Brown's stupidity is in print. Public interest of Lehi's citizens is not lacking, they know no one listens! A citizen can request, petition, complain, beg, threaten and intimidate. But nothing! Nothing is done in the favor of a concerned citizen if the council or mayor have their minds made up. So JoAnn, don't try to it off pawn your interest." 768-318- 8 personally fought curb and gutter for my mother's property, but to no avail. 1 personally fought for cost savings on the swimming pool, but to no avail. So don't anyone of you on the council or who have been elected to public office in Lehi say citizens are not concerned. In the several years the swimming pool committee worked among the citizens trying to raise money for a swimming pool, we found no lack of interest, we only found a lack of faith in the citizens towards our public officials. There is very little belief that any bureaucrat is going to do anything for anyone. "John Daly explained that residents should have expected at least most of the mill levy jump because they voted for it a year ago in connection with the new swimming pool under construction." Why is it not remembered by the city, and explained, are obtained? We have obtained matching funds, so it will be interesting to soc if this city lives up to its promise. How about the sewer district? It seems that in order to get the citizens to vrte in favor of the new sewer district, we were told how low our rates would be. I believe it would only be about $6.23 a month. After we approved the district, it was amazing to see how some rates are more than double that. Were we lied to? Or, were our officials unable to understand or discover what would really happen? Either way, how can we be to expected believe. that the promise made to the citizens was: The mill levy will only be increased one and a half mills if matching funds pool would be important, I believed you. When you said our improvement district on 300 South between 1st East and 3rd East was annulled, I believed you. When you said our sewer rales would only increase swimming really pool, believed you. 1 slightly, believed you. When you said the golf course built in American Fork would benefit us, I believed you. When you say, we want your input. It's important to us. We can cut our budget if you tell us just where you want it cut. YOU EXPECT US TO BELIEVE YOU? Most of us might not be highly intelligent, but most of us are not stupid either! So why should I protest a 14 percent pay hike requested by city employees? So why should I protest Does it really matter what you promise to your citizens? Do you believe we really lack interest because we don't trust you? When you were voted into office, maybe it was because you "can't do any worse than what has been done already." When you told me, the swimming pool would have a say in the choice of architect for the connection fees? I ask that the salaries of city employees be published. Let us, as citizens, know how much they make. We then can decide if they need a cost of living increase. If my employer can't give me a raise, I have to either make do with what I have or find a better paying I GLASSMAW AUTO I TRUCK GLASS "WE COME TO YOU" CALL FOR ESTIMATE 756-216- 2 GERTHEINZIG p& SECTION V ORDINANCE A ESTABLISHING AN LICENSE UPON PUBLIC UTILITIES AND ALSO UPON BUSINESSES IN COMPETITION WITH TAX UTILITIES AND DEFINING THE SALES AND SERVICE REVENUE SUBJECT TO SAID TAX.
