The stamp is known as the Liberty stamp. A red bust of the Stat: e of Liberty on a blue ground is accented by white and red lettering. It bears the motto, "In God We Trust," the first regular stamp issued by the United States to carry a religious motto. The new three-cestamp carries the same theme in purple with white markings. It was issued at a later date. According to Craig Christensen, local club president, the stamp was chosen by voting and received a point rating of 229. Next highest was the four-ceair mail stamp, marked with a bird with outspread wings. It was rated 223 points. The Lewis and Clark anniversary stamp was rated third by the local club.
