With the exception of a handful of sports movies, most feature films portraying the athletic escapades of young men and women arc poorly made and highly unrealistic. Not Hoosiers, a heartwarming and lifelike depiction of the Indiana's biggest and most popular religion high school basketball. ft f -- FILM REVIEW r vj M mentality. The setting is rural Indiana in I95l, and Dale is hired by Hickory High School principal Cletus Summers (played by Huskies. Shcb Woolcy) to coach the down-and-oa successful was who college coach, but who has a Dale, mysterious and questionable past, is a combination of Woody Hayes and Lynn Archibald. He's sincere and close to his team, but at the same time, he's only one punch away from busting somebody's jaw. The underdog, in this case a high with a Rocky-typ- e school coach named Normal Dale, is played masterfully by Gene Hackman. He fights the odds, makes a few people mad, falls in love and eventually becomes a folk hero.
