This fact is especially disturbing to the music business in view of the fact that many of the shows had an extensive number num-ber of single recordings by such top names as Tony Bennett, Doris Day, Jo Stafford, Vic Damone and Sammy Davis, Jr. that just a year ago would have been sure hits. Movies, on the other hand, turned out several smash hits In spite of box office slumps ... Included In-cluded In the Hollywood hits were several by Elvis Presley (but who else?), Pat Boone, two by Johnny John-ny Mathls and such legitimate tunes as "Around the World," "Tammy" and "Fascination" . . . Television established a few hits Including Tommy Sands' big "Teenage Crush," Ricky Nelson's "I'm Walkin' " and Jill Corey's "Love Me to Pieces." PLATTER CHATTER CAPITOL: Sinatra keeps rolling roll-ing out those hi-fi albums and one Is better than the other . . . The man Is phenomenal . . . Ills latest is Frankle at bis best . . . Called "Come Fly With Me" he takes you on a high-flying trip to three continents as he sings with casual cas-ual charm and warmth such favorites fa-vorites as "Autumn In New York," "April In Paris," "Isle of Capri," "Road to Mandalay," "Braiil," and "Blue Hawaii" . . . It's the greatest. Keely Smith, talented spouse of Louie Prima, steps out on her own Bnd comes up with a fresh, exotic personality that shines through the range of songs selected in fine fettle . . . This gal is versatile and adds color to such oldies as "When Your Lover Has Gone," "I Understand," Under-stand," "Imagination," "Fools Rush In," "When Day Is Done," "Mr Wonderful," "As You Desire Me," and the title song "I Wish Vou Love." And we wish Keely love for a great Job on her debut album. |
