Show PATROL CHECKS JORDAN BUSES Overloading was the biggest defect found among 31 Jordan District school buses as the Utah Highway Patrol began its semiannual semi-annual inspection. Inspecting the buses near Jordan Jor-dan High school were Sgt. John D. Rogers and Trooper Glenn Coffman. They reported a much stiffer inspection will be conducted conduc-ted this spring in view of the several school bus accidents which have occurred across the nation in recent months. Their report showed 11 of the buses were overloaded, though the buses were declared in good shape mechanically by the inspecting in-specting officers. Only minor necessary adjustments adjust-ments in brakes, light systems and emergency doors were noted by the two officers. Sgt. Dan Beckstead, supervisor of the inspection for the state, said it would be about two weeks before all buses are checked by patrolmen in the field. He said about 520 buses will be checked. |
