Only four games into the season, the Rams have lost 10 players for the entire season, and eight more are out indefinitely. Not surprisingly, CSU is 4. Utah coach Chuck Stobart, however, is not taking the Rams lightly. "I know it's a cliche, but CSU is a much better team than its record indicates," he said. The Rams have been trounced by Air Force at home and Hawaii and Colorado on the road. Last Saturday, CSU played its best game of the year in a close loss on the road against Iowa State. "We've been trying to get the players to play hard-nosfootball for three weeks," CSU coach Leon Fuller said. "We finally did against Iowa State." have before." While CSU was showing they can run the ball, its defense gave a lesson on how to stop the rushing game. The Ram defense held Iowa State to a mere 21 yards rushing. Against the Utes, who have averaged just under 200 yards a game on the ground, Colorado State will have to give another great effort against the rush. Another sore spot for the Rams has been the offensive scoring output. In the four games they have played, the team has scored a total of four touchdowns and 34 points. Defensively, CSU has given up 110 points in the same four . V. games., Not only has the team had scoring problems, but the distribution of the points has been unfavorable. Ominously quiet since throwing the key blocks in the school's loss to Cal last year, the musicians struck early Saturday. They stayed on the field too long before the opening kickoff against San Jose State and caused Stanford (0--3) to be hit with a penalty. Eventually, the band was persuaded to allow the players on the field, which proved to be bad luck for the Cardinals. '. San Jose then romped to a 0 victory requiring nary a single block from a tuba player. The Cardinals now are warbling " at the top of the Bottom Ten.
