He was born March 12, 1902 in Mona Juab County to Oliver Garfield and Lorrine Houghton. He married Rose Lorrine Peterson March 21, 1928 in the Logan LDS Temple. He attended Bear River High School. He lived in Tremonton, Ogden and California. He worked at Hill AFB in Ogden, Utah and the Edwards AFB in California. e He filled three missions for the LDS Church. He was a High Priest group leader of the Palmdale Ward in California and Stake Clerk in California from 1959 to 1961. He was president of the YMIA for 3 years and Ward Clerk in the 29th Ward Ben Lomond Stake. Survivors are his widow of Ogden, 2 daughters: Mrs. Ralph (Genial) Cassen of Lancaster, Calif., and Mrs. Dean (Doris) Wilcox of Florida, 11 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. Survivors also include 3 brothers and 2 sisters; Les and Jess Garfield, both of Tremonton, Fern Horsely and Melvin Garfield, both of Salt Lake City and Grace Dodd of Clearfield. Services will be held Thursday, Sept. 9 at 1 p.m. in the 52nd LDS Ward Chapel, 26th and Jackson, Ogden. Viewing at the Lindquist Mortuary, South Washington, Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Thursday one hour prior to services. Burial will be in the River-vieCemeterv -I full-tim- Mo-jav- e, DANIEL CHXISTENSEN Bear River City- - Daniel Christensen, 84, died at a Tremonton nursing home Friday of causes incident to age. He was born March 28, 1892, in Bear River City, a son of Michael and Ana Caroline Carlsen Christensen. He married Jeanette Ada Rose on Dec. 1, 1923, in Ogden. Mr. Christensen is a veteran of WW I and a retired farmer. He was an elder in the LDS Bear River Ward. Surviving are his widow of Bear River City; two daughters, Mrs. Ray (Ethel) Nelson and Mrs. Roselyn Nelson, both of Tremonton; nine grandchildren; seven great grandchildren. ts and Doctors Degree from the University of Wisconsin at Madison. Dr. Beal worked for Swifts and Company in Chicago and during World War II for the United States Government in Price Controls. In 1946 he joined the Faculty of the University of Maryland, where he taught 30 years Economics and Marketing. He retired in December 1975 when he became Professor Emeritus of his Department. He had also served as a professor on a Fulbright Fellowship to the countries of Greece and Norway. Dr. Beal was in England last year on a Milk Study Research. He was active in the LDS Church, had served on a mission to Tornoto, Canada and was a High Priest at the time of his death. He married Virginia Smith in the Logan Temple Dec. 29, 1937. He is survived by his wife, three sons Robert Max Beal, Kaysville, Utah; Richard S. Beal, Orem, Utah and George Max Beal II, New Haven, Conn. One sister, Mrs. Vernald W. (Franke) Johns, Garland and five grandchildren. Funeral services were held in College Park, Maryland, Tuesday, Sept. 7. Additional services will be held Thursday Sept. 9, 1976, at the Fielding Ward Chapel at noon. V X t .1 ' Vy 04 DR. 0RA HESS GEORGE MAX BEAL Dr. George Max Beal, 69, died at his home in College Park, Maryland, Friday FLOYD OLIVER GARFIELD Floyd Oliver Garfield of 2730 Fowler Ave., Ogden, Sept. 3, 1976 of cancer. He was born at Richfield, Utah, Dec. 5, 1907 to George and Josephine Nielsen Beal. He grew up in Garland and graduated from Bear River High School. He was a graduate of Utah State University and a teacher in Sanpete County. He received a Mast- - . .Ora Hess, 52, of Riverside, was found dead at his home Wednesday of a gunshot wound. Mr .Hess was born Sept.26, 1923, in Plymouth, Utah, a son of James Stanley and LaVona Eliza Thornton Hess. He was reared and educated in the Bear River Valley. He was married to Mal-ind- a Dustin on Sept.28, 1944, in Evanston, Wyo. He was a WWII Army veteran, and was a master mechanic for Harris Truck and Equipment Co. of Tremonton. He was a member of the Belmont LDS Ward. Surviving are his widow of Riverside; one son and two daughters, Clair D. Hess. Santa Rosa, N.M.; Mrs. Rex (Linda Lee) Peterson, Garland; Miss Juanita Lynn Hess, Riverside; four grandchildren. Also surviving are bis mother of Ogden; six brothers and three sisters, Stirl Hess, Tremonton; Grant Hess, Liberia, W. Africa; Vera Hess, Garland; Devere Hess, Mrs.Evelyn Lott, Mrs. Frank (Marie) Quinn, Mrs. Lowell (Fayne) Capener, all of Ogden; Lyle Hess, Van Nuys, Calif; and Fred Hess, Fielding. of Tremonton, two brothers, Bear River Valley. Surviving are on son Don Lee Yorktown Pope, Heights, New York. Five Krys Oyler of Tremonton and Kevin Oyler serving an LDS Mission in Las Vegas, Nevada. Also surviving are his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Leo Oyler of Tremonton and Mr. and Mrs. Oliver Dunn of Brigham City. Mortuary. She was born July 20, 1901 in Bear River City to Charles C. and Helen C. Wilson. She married Don L. Pope December 13, 1938. He died in 1964. She was a graduate of Brigham Young College in Logan. He was born June 2, 1958, in Brigham City to Richard Thayne and Arlene Dunn ; Oyler. He was reared and educated in Tremonton, graduating from Bear River High School with the class of 1976. He worked with his father farming and with the Oyler Construction Company. He was the pitcher for the Tremonton Sixth Ward Senior Softball team that won the all Church Intermount-ai- n North Championship. He was a priest in the Tremonton Sixth LDS Ward. Funeral services for Gary Roland Allen, 13 of Tremonton, who died Thursday of injuries suffered in an accident, were held Monday at 1 p.m. in the Tremonton Third LDS Ward Chapel. Burial was in the Bothwell Valley View Cemetery. He was born May 24, 1963, in Logan, a son of Darwin Roland and LaRee Neeley Allen. He was a student at Bear River Junior High School and was a deacon in the Tremonton Third LDS Ward. Surviving are his parents of Tremonton, two brothers and two sisters, Curtis A. Allen, Todd D. Allen, Gail Allen and Colleen Allen, all of Tremonton.
