Judging will be three competent persons also from Logan, with Evan Stephenson of Utah State University in charge. Burke Jones of Howell, a Bear River High school student who is interested in singing, cooking, dancing and drama. Milton Johnson head of the Speech and Debate Department of the Bear River High School, has been presented the Diamond Key Award by the National Forensic League. The Forensic Le a g u e National makes the Diamond Key Award to Debate Coaches who have been outstanding in their development of student speakers and debaters. This honor is awarded Mr. Johnson on the basis of his leadership in Forensic Activities. Mr. Johnson was one of three speech teachers in Utah this year to gain this recognition. He retired from the Bear River High School Faculty at the conclusion of the 1966 school year. According to the Foundation report, beginning salaries for a teacher with a bachelor degree in the Box Elder School Diswill be trict during 1966-6$4,908, with the maximum salary reaching $7,536. These amounts are for approximately 180 to 185 days or nine months of service. Teachers with a master's degree in the Box Elder School District will receive a salary boost averaging $452 next year, the report continues. Approximately $272 of this sum will be a raise in the salary schedule level and $180 will reflect the salamount from the normal ary increments. Foundation analysts note that beginning teachers with a master's degree will receive a salary of $5,208 in the Box Elder District next year.
