March ninth and tenth tryouts will be conducted for all Jordan students interested in debating. This is for all Jord~n students interested in debating. This is for the purpose of deciding who will make the team. The group who are aspiring for the honor are hard at work and have been for the past few weeks. We can safely expect a good number to try out, also nn excellent team after the selections are made. Students, let's take an intcrest in their activities and watch their progress, for they are working to boost the school. Cyprus, Grantsville and Jordan form the district in which we debate. If ,J ordan is &uccessful in this division •• lar,.:;er field will be opened for them These in terser olastic d~bates will take place in the very near future, and, aside from the league events, their is talk among the prospective debaters of having ~orne practice debates with high schools that are not in Jordan's debating j 1strict. The Broarlcaster, voicing thP. sentiment of the student body, wishes the debaters the best of success, and commends thc'll for their desire to bring Jordan to tile front. After a long controversy a play was finally chosen to be the seniors annual · production. "Come Out of the Kitchen" a three act comedy, was selected to be the presentation. Miss Johnstone gave three play readings to practically every member of the senior class. Many came with the intention to try out, others merely to listen. But all were rewarded and voted the play would make a huge "hit." "Come Out of the Kitchen" seems to be especially suited for the senior class. It centers on the Jifficult pasition that the four young Dangerfield's find themselves in, all because they need money. Olivia, turned from a society girl to a cook, but nevertheless, losing none of her charm. Paul, becomes a "yes sir'' "Just as you say, sir" sort of man, in other words a butler. Charlie becomes the errand boy and Elizabeth the upstairs maid. Burton Crane, the renter, trys to unravel the mystery ru his queer surroundings and~but •you must wait and see the play. Mrs. Falkner and her daughter, Cora, are guests of Cram!. The older women is a pryiqg old "cat, dragon and hen" as Elizabeth terms her. The plot thickens until all the servants are dismissed but the cook; and the climax comes amidst a very amusing scene, one of the most hilarious in the play. The other characters are: Randy Weeks, a real estate agent, in love with Olivia: Thomas Lefferts, an admirer of Cora: Aunt Amanda, a faithful negro servant, and Solon Tucker, Crane's attorney and guest, also a brother of Mrs. Falkner. All the acts take place in the Dangerfield mansion in Virginia. The characters and those having signed for try outs; Olivia Dangerfield; Ella Godfrey, IoIa Maynard, Erma Rasrnussen, Bernice Bateman. Those trying for Elizabeth Dangerfield are Golda Soffe. and Zelda Lloyd. Eveline Peterson and Gladys Wooten are working for Mrs. Falkner. Phyllis Larson and Kathleen Reynolds have decided on Cora Falkner's part. Those trying for the black servant Aunt Amanda, are Mildred Aylett and Lucy Weenig. Howard Best seems to have no competition for Burton Crane's part for ' we all know wh~t he can ao. Clarence Williams and Theron Pack are interested in the part of Thomas Lefferts. Solon Tucker is Dwight Wadleigh. Paul Dangerfield is to be tried for f>y Charles Davis and George Anderson. The character, Charles Dangerfield, has attracted Glen Stuart, Wilson Bateman, Newton Gaskill and Darrell Christenson. Randolph Weeks is Charles Fischer. Chasing the dollar so much is probably what makes it shy and hard to catch. NOTICE Ten Seconds ..estore a blade to super • keea• aeu U you use a Valet AatoStrop ~azor, the ONLY .
