Show Hilltop Times Thursday, May 8, Softball teams slug it out Fitness Month activities planned In observance of National Fitness Month, the Health and Wellness Center and the Hess Fitness Center are sponsoring some events during May. The intramural Softball team from the 4th Fighter Squadron took the softball champn tournament at ionship during the the Rex Athletic Fields May 3 and 4. Individuals also swung their bats to see whose ball went the farthest to become tournament home run champion. Thirteen teams entered the weekend tour- The American Heart Association 5K Walk and Run is Saturday, 9:30 pre-seaso- a.m., at the Ogden River Parkway.The event also features food, entertainment, face painting and more. Rochelle Ducharme, Ext rt nament By the end of day one, the team from the 649th Munitions Squadron and the 4th FS were in the winners bracket waiting for the p next day's matchups. Sunday morning's consolation bracket pitted the 649th Combat Logistics Support Squadron against the 75th Security Police Squadron. The 388th Maintenance Squadron Electronic Warfare Systems and the 75th Civil Engineering Group-were left to battle it out at the 3 p.m. championship game. The 649th CLSS defeated the 75th CEG-and the 4th FS ended up in the consolation bracket after playing the 649th MUNS. The 4th FS ended up the winners against the 649th CLSS. In two championship games, the 4th FS took the title. The home run competition was held Sunday before the day's games. Thad Noethe, Vernon Moncor and Will Schante had two home runs a piece when Bob Saenz stepped to the plate. His first ball sailed over left field to claim the title as he added the fourth home run on the eighth pitch. He received a bat bag and a gift certificate. Each batter supplied their own pitcher and had 10 pitches. Their objective was to hit as many balls as they could over the fence on Rex Field 1. The Youth-Adu- Doubles Bowling lt Tournament is May 17 - 19, 3 p.m. is $5 per team. each day. The cost Game format is Pin Strikes, and Scotch Doubles. In honor of Fitness Month and the Air Force 50th Anniversary, 50 cent hamburgers, hot dogs and 32 oz. sodas will be available. O LA golf tournament June set for The Aircraft Directorate's annual golf tournament at the Hubbard Golf Course n is June 6. The format will be a scramble (blind draw), shot-gu- n start at 7:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. It is open to everyone and the cost is $35 and includes 18 holes of golf, cart, lunch, shirt, and door prizes. Participants must wear spikeless golf shoes only. Sign up sheets need to be turned into to a representative by June 1.
