Show 12 Hilltop Times April 25, 1996 IM, Ops management ; officers can now select new career fields RANDOLPH AFB, Texas (AFNS) -The Air Force is releasing the list of new career fields into which Information Management (37A) and Operations Management (13E) officers can cross-floThe crossflow opportunity is a result of the Information Management merger into the Communications career field along with the elimination of the Operations Management career field. Officers who decide to crossflow can submit to the Air Force Personnel Center up to three choices from the list of available career fields. The center will match officers to a new career field based on their choices and the needs of the Air Force. Chief of Staff for Personnel Lt. Gen. Mike McGinty said he has two primary goals for the approximately 2,600 IM and Operations Management officers affected by these two actions. "The first goal is to ensure uninterrupted mission accomplishment and the other is to enhance the officer's continued potential for career growth and advancement." The second goal is already being met, say personnel officials at the center. Several IM officers, for example, are being considered for commander positions in the newly formed Communications and Information (33SX) career field. While the bulk of the jobs available for crossflow are in the new Communications and Information career field and in Personnel (36PX), officers have the option to apply to crossflow into any of the career fields listed below. Officers are reminded to check AFM Officer Classification, to determine AFSC duties, responsibilities and; specialty qualifications before sending theirpchoices to the Personnel Center. For additional career field information, affected officers should review AFP Officer Professional Development Guide, and talk with officers currently serving in the AFSCs that are of interest. Finally, officers are encouraged to contact the individual assignment teams that manage the AFSC on the available listing. Officers should wait until after their reclassification action is complete before discussing a specific assignment. Affected officers can expect to finish their current tour before being reassigned into their new AFSC. Officers can submit their choices to AFPC using one of the following five ways. Using the world wide web, fill in the new electronic form under the "General Information and Updates" site on the AFPC assignments home page.' People can pull up this page directly by using the URL address: http:www. afpc.af.milasgnmenthtdocs. Choices can also be to the center the address: using Crossflohq.ofpc.af.mil. Officers can fill out AF Form 3849, Officer Assignment Worksheet, and fax that to DSN or commercial attention: DPASF. Or, they can send their choices by message to HQ AFPC RANDOLPH AFB TXDPASF Finally choices can be mailed to the center: CROSSFLOW, 550 C St. West Suite 33, Randolph AFB, TX. 78150-473The list of available career fields to chose from is as follows: (Please note that these AFSCs are rank ordered from the officer's greatest crossflow opportunity to the least crossflow opportunity.) 487-340- 8 Field grade 33SX Communications-Compute- ; ' PUBLIC NOTICE' The United States Air Force ; vv -- 5 - - v-"- invites public comment on the Environmental Assessment and Proposed Finding of No Significant Impact of raising the rninimum altitude airspace at the Utah Test and Training Range PROPOSED PLAN -- The United States Air Force proposes to increase (raise the minimum altitude) the from 9,000 and 7.500 airspace at the UTTR North Range Lucin A and B Military Operating Area-ar- eas feet above mean sea level respectively, up to but not including 18,000 feet above MSL. The action would increase use of airspace in the North Range, decrease use of airspace in the South Range and would include absorbing the airspace below 18,000 feet in the restricted area (R6406C) Into the Lucin Military Operating Area. This action would allow pilots to perform more varied missions such as Intercept, Basic Flight Maneuvers, Air Combat or Dissimilar Air Combat and Composite Force Training. $ . ALTERNATIVES: Three additional alternatives were considered: . "..' i No action. -.. , Splitting the airspace into two layers, one up to but not including 14,000 feet and one from 14,000 feet up to but not including 18,000 feet (does not allow for flexibility); . Flying to an existing range (did not meet criteria) i '." ANTICIPATED ENVIRONMENTAL EFFECTS The proposed action would not require additional takeoffs from Hill AFB. A decrease in the number of low level flights in the North Range would result in an overall decrease in noise levels. Based on the EA, the Air Force has prepared a draft finding of no significant impact.
