Because of these briefings, children should recognize a dangerous situation and know to run to a McGruff House for safety. Children are told not to go to a McGruff House for anything but an emergency. Safe house members are advised not to provide: toilet facilities, except when absolutely necessary; food or beverages; transportation for any child in a car; or first aid, except in emergencies. Presently, nine McGruff Houses exist within the 1,145 housing units on Hill AFB. As you can see, there are not nearly enough McGruff Houses. We have one McGruff House per every 127 residences. Our goal is to identify one McGruff House per 25 houses on base and more volunteers are needed. To apply to become a McGruff House volunteer on Hill AFB or for more information concerning the program, please contact SrA.
