If you or someone you know has a problem caused by stress, drinking or drugs, there is help available. The Social Actions Office at Hill AFB has a team of professionals who are trained to help with these and other problems. On the first visit an assessment is done. The person is then referred, to the service that properly addresses his needs. This could include: B An outpatient treatment program at the Social Actions Office for drug and alcohol abuse and DUI edu-- . cation. B Outpatient treatment off base for drugs and alcohol. B Hospitalization for people who are suffering from depression, severe stress, situational crisis, alcohol and drug abuse. The staff in Social Actions can play an important part in drug and alcohol education and prevention. They are willing to present seminars, show videos and hand out pamphlets at your staff meetings, work areas and safety briefings. Supervisors are strongly encouraged to intervene when they observe that d an employee has a pattern of alproblems and severe stress, cohol or drugs is suspected to be a contributor. In such cases, supervisors should make a mandatory referral to the Social Actions Office for an assessment. The Total Quality program stresses getting the best products out and . work-relate- In recognition of National Alcohol Awareness Month, Hill AFB has designated April 30 as alcohol-fre- e Friday. All Hill employees are encouraged to refrain from drinking alcoholic beverages for the entire day. According to the National Safety Council, alcohol is toxic. People who drink heavily over a long period can damage their liver, heart and brain. Prolonged alcohol abuse can trigger seizures. A pregnant woman who drinks can damage her unborn child. According to the National Institute of Alcohol Abuse, alcohol is associated with: offering the best possible quality service to customers. One way to do this is to make sure employees are healthy and getting help for job problems they may be experiencing. Programs available are held in Bldg. 396 and include: Meetings on Wednes0 11:30 days, p.m., for famiof and or drug friends alcoholics ly addicts. Alcoholics Anonymous Meetings 0 on Thursdays, 11:30 p.m. Alcohol and drug education semiTwo-da- y nar seminar conducted h is certified with the state of Utah for the DUI Education Program. People who are issued drunk driving tickets may attend the seminar at no cost to them. Attendees will be required to use leave.
