The recently announced fiscal 1994 personnel drawdown game plan allows some enlisted people to apply for the Voluntary Separation Incentive and Special Separation Benefit program, as well as the new temporary early retirement authority, to encourage voluntary separations and retirements. The Air Force Military Personnel hotCenter has established a toll-fre- e for line,' questions about the drawdown. Personnel experts will answer calls from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Central Time. People who call during other times can leave messages, and someone will return their - of their date of separation. They must have served less than 20 years as of their separation date. D Senior airmen, sergeants and staff sergeants, except in medical or dental skills, with a Total Active Federal Military Service Date of Sept. 30, 1977, or earlier, are eligible. This applies to all duty locations. Enlisted early retirement criteria call. Officials emphasized that the VSISSB and early retirement programs are not entitlements and, as such, will not be offered to all who meet the minimum criteria. For instance, not everyone who has at least 15 years of service will have the opportunity to retire early. Phase I of the drawdown program begins May 3. All retirements and separations will occur in fiscal 1994. Enlisted VSISSB eligibility criteria are: D They must have served at least five years' continuous active duty as D are: B Senior airmen, sergeants and staff sergeants, except in medical or dental skills, with a TAFMSD of Sept. 30, 1977, or earlier, are eligible. They must have served more than 15 and less than 20 years of service as of their retirement date. This applies to all duty locations. The Air Force has additional eligibility criteria for enlisted people at continental U.S. bases scheduled to close in fiscal 1994, or assigned to units which have been publicly announced to close in fiscal 1994. Unit commanders must certify the individual's unit is scheduled for closure in fiscal 1994 and that TDY manning assistance or a backfill will not be required. The military personnel flight chief must certify that the person's AFSC is not authorized elsewhere on base.
