Dave Richard Special Enlisted Adviser, U.S. Navy With today's emphasis on adult continuing education as it affects one's career enand future marketabilhancement, members service readily place a tremendous ity, value on Montgomery GI Bill benefits. And why not? What a deal! This popular education incentive allows active and Reserve component members to simultaneously contribute to their educational goals while serving their country. All that is required is commitment two or three years of service, plus $1,200 for active-duttypes, or a obligation for reserve members. Nothing you don't already know, you say. So, what's wrong with this picture? Well, the reserve side of things presents no commiproblems. Contact the education center to keep abreast of the proposed changes in eligibility. If you have the MGIB and are considering separation, it is recommended that you check your benefit status first.
