Martindale helped automate a major communication system that sojved problems and improved timely communication. Mr. He's an expert at picking up the pieces and putting things together again. When the senior production management specialist isn't enjoying his puzzle hobby at home, he's busy solving riddles at work, finding. ways to improve communications for the item management division in the Directorate of Materiel Management. Mr. Martindale works in the photographicreconnaissanceintelligence management branch. The Hill e AFB branch's mission is to ensure depot on photographic and related equipment for not only the Air Force, but the Navy and other organizations of the American armed services. "The reconnaissance program is the eyes of the main-tainanc- fleet," he said. "We're the key to their ability to see. We are their optometrists." Because the branch deals with so many different organizations throughout the world, coordination is like fitting together the pieces of a puzzle. "I am the gateway for the depot maintenance support agreement," he said. Mr. Martindale has helped solve communication problems among organizations throughout the 1 Ats f- - rf puterized inter service material accounting and control. system. The IM ACS is a program used to transmit data electronically between all services to help keep track of finances, equipment and its progress. "I can make a change on my personal computer today and it will show up in Washington today," he said. Before, it could take as long as a month for paperwork to travel through the proper channels and once it got there, it was no longer current. Mr. Martindale has worked at Hill for 18 years. He said he enjoys the satisfaction of seeing his work "from front to back." He likes to see the pieces fit together.
