The channeling of this desire in creative ways helps provide a more productive and humane society. Our nation was built by volunteers. Their participation cannot be measured in dollars, only in the help they provide to others. Volunteering is a major element in building a better community, a better military, and a better sense of There are hundreds of volunteers working diligently at Hill, providing services to those in need. We must not ignore their contribution. We must do everything in our power to ensure they are recognized for their generosity and special talents. As we celebrate and recognize our volunteers during National Volunteer Week, April 1990, I urge all citizens to take pride in their volunteer heritage. TV well-bein- . They teach, advise, coach, drive, clean, comfort and support. ,V Who are Hill's volunteers? They're nurses, businessmen and women, colonels, airmen, senior and housecitizens, teen-ageour wives. They're neighbors, family and friends. April 7 is National Volunteer Week- -a time to salute Hill's 900 active volunteers. We would not be able to offer many of the programs and services which are so vital to our military and civilian employees, their families and the local communities if it were not for the unselfish giving of time and talents by Hill's ' volunteers. It is the value of the human spirit and reverence for life implicit in the act of volunteering that we need to preserve and pass on to the future generations as the light of reason in a technological age and hope of peace in a com- rs 22-2- Sir Maj.
