Ms. Sexton, Hill AFB's civilian personnel officer, leaves her job here this week for McClel-la- n AFB, Calif., where she will be the chief of classification. "It's the only job in civilian personnel that I haven't done," she said. There have been good times and bad times at Civilian Personnel the three years she has been there, and Ms. Sexton said she has seen accomin several areas during her time at plishments ' ' - . The cooperative education program in the Directorate of Maintenance with wage grade apprentice programs was established. Training will be provided by area vocational centers. "Overall it's been a busy three years," she said. "It's been a good time, the last year especially. I've been able to work with great managers and employees at all levels." Of course, there have been challenges as well, such as fluctuations in budget and workload, child care for civilians and broadening the experience bases of employees. Ms. Sexton advises women who aspire to high positions in civil service to obtain a college degree,' be willing to accept the dirty jobs no one else will accept and learn as much as they can about what is going on around them. They should also accept the challenge of supervisory positions and obtain as much managerial training as possible. "I think the opportunities are there," she said.
