He graduated from technical school as a jet engine mechanic and reported to the 388th in August 1984. In January 1986, he was promoted to senior airman He is a distinguished graduate of NCO the preparatory course and is the 388th CRS Airman of the Year for 1986. below-the-zon- F-1- F-16- F-- 16 fit-- Sergeant Henning, an integrated avionics attack control system technician from Queens, N.Y., enlisted in the Air Force in 1981, coming in on the . delayed enlistment program. His first assignment after being trained as an aircraft general mechanic was to the 50th TFW at Hahn AB, West Germany, where he served two years as an 6 Fighting Falcon assistant and primary crew chief. He then came to the 388th EMS in 1984. There he performed inspections, preventative maintenance and operational checks on In 1985 he trained into his present career Public 388th Equipment Maintenance Squadron. One noncommissioned officer and one airman will be chosen the wing's top maintainers from this . group. Recognition is given at all Tactical Air Command aircraft maintenance squadrons to maintenance professionals who reflect the highest ideals in military professionalism. It's given to persons in the rank of technical sergeant and below who are assigned to direct labor duties in support of tactical aircraft. The names of the 388th's winners will be forwarded to 12th Air Force and Tactical Air Command headquarters; however, there is no further competition at those levels, wing officials said. Guest speakers at this year's banquet will be CoL Calvin R. Johnson, chief of Air University's National Security Briefing Team, and Capt. Peter R, Faber, the writing communications skills program manager for the Squadron Officers School at the same base. They will explain the national security mission and goals of the U.S. Air Force. Terry TFW Affairs The 388th Tactical Fighter Wing's top maintain-er- s will be announced tomorrow at the unit's annual Maintenance Professional of the Year banquet at the Hill AFB NCO Club. Two winners will be selected from six nominees representing the wing's three aircraft maintenance squadrons. In the running for the honors are three noncommissioned officers and three airmen. The banquet, which is sold out, starts at 6:30 p.m. Nominated for this year's selection were Sgt. Richard J. Henning and Sr A. Eugene R. Wasko of the 388th Aircraft Generation Squadron; TSgt. Richard A. Emlet and SrA. Kevin E. Neville of the 388th Component Repair Squadron; and SSgt. Dennis C. Mangioni and A1C Brian J. McKinnon of the Xy irmnn control. IX Sergeant Mangioni ;,., 1 . - ; "yiwwwi - VC . Mangioni Sergeant Mangioni is a resident . of Pa., and entered the Air Force under the enlistment delayed program in September 1980. After graduating from technical school as a tactical aircraft maintenance specialist, he was stationed at RAF Lakenheath, England, and in 1983 reassigned to the 388th. While at the 388th, he has worked in the wheel and tire shop, the dart shop and is presently in the phase inspection section. The sergeant won the 388th EMS Maintenance Person of the Month in April 1986 and the same honors at wing level. He is also his squadron's Maintenance Person of the Quarter for the third quarter of 1986 and the unit Maintenance Person of the th Punx-sutawne- s. field. The sergeant was nominated twice for Main- tenance Person of the Month during 1986 and earned a 12th AF ground safety award during the "second quarter of last year. Wasko Airman Wasko is an aircraft electrical systems mechanic from Sioux Falls, N.D. who enlisted, under delayed enlistment, in 1983. An honor graduate from his technical training school, he was assigned to the 388th in August 1984. In August 1986 he was selected for promo- tion to his present rank, ahead of his contemporaries. Two months later, he attended the NCO preparatory course and was a distinguished graduate. Emlet F-1- 6. y, Year. below-the-zon-e, Sergeant Emlet hails from Hanover, Pa., and came into the Air Force on the delayed enlistment program in 1973. Upon graduation from technical school as a jet engine mechanic, he was stationed at George AFB, Calif. He went to Hahn next, transitioning with the 50th TFW from the F-- 4 Phantom II to the Coming to the 388th in April 1983, he has since worked in the sound suppressor, test cell and engine test sections. e. 4 McKinnon Airman McKinnon is a Detroit native who joined the Air Force under delayed enlistment in January 1984. He arrived at the wing in December 1984 after graduating from the tactical aircraft maintenance technical school at the top of his class. He was selected the 388th EMS Airman of the Month in October 1986 and the squadron Maintenance Professional of the Year.
