Kelley because he said he didn't, have time to do it cl Cell CsteoeJcp 2849th SPS Crime Prevention A car left at the base garage for repairs caused a stir, when someone saw that a handgun had been left in it and reported it to the 2849th Security Police Squadron desk sergeant. A patrol found the gun, a .22 caliber handgun, had been left in the car's ashtray loaded. The owner was nowhere around. 777-- 1 10O a residence on Minuteman Street. It was supposedly stolen in September, but not reported because the owner was searching for it. Numerous len from people visited the home the night it was left on a tray in the kitchen. There are no suspects or wit-nesses- s. After confiscating it, the police made contact with its owner, an airman living in one of the base dormitories. He was brought to the law enforcement desk by his supervisor. There the airman was charged with the unauthorized possession of a firearm on a military installation. The airman said he left the gun in his car because he was not allowed to keep it in his dormitory, and that he had not registered it because he didn't have the time to do it. The weapon was turned over to police officials for safekeeping. Other incidents happening on Hill AFB from Oct. 30 through Nov. 5 include: Alcohol incidents in Farming-ton- , Utah, by Hill police turned up an airman first class who had been arrested by Clearfield, Utah, police for driving under the influence of alcohol, evading and leaving the scene of an accident. A blood alcohol test showed a blood alcohol content of .20 percent. His car was impounded and bail set at $1,956. DA master sergeant was stopped during a routine ID check at the base's south gate and alcohol was detected on his breath. He performed a field sobriety test, which he failed. He was cited for DUI under the Utah DUI Summons and Citation statute. His first sergeant took custody of him at the LE desk. The sergeant was also cited for driving on DA check of the Davis County Jail, Thefts A base employee was stopped by base police after someone reported he had stolen government property and had misused government facilities for personal gain. A search of his car yielded no material. However, the man said government-ownehe had brought in a piece of a snowplow from home to work on at his shop. An incidentcomplaint form was filed and a statement taken. A $400 diamond solitaire ring was reported sto- - an expired driver's license. Other incidents A woman who attempted to enter the south gate was stopped by security police and cited for driving with a suspended Utah driver's license. Though not a Hill worker, she was driving a car belonging to a Hill employee. d Can it! Statements were taken from both men, and a witness. A civilian worker reported that another civilian had threatened him over the telephone. The incident stemmed, the man said, from an earlier incident between the two in which he had been reprimanded. Emergency room workers at the U.S. Air Force Hospital, Hill, reported treating a boy they suspected of being abused. The boy was treated for bruises to the head and right arm, an abrasion on his lower back and a swollen forehead. An agent from the Air Force Office of Special Investigations responded and took over the investigation. The parents of two teen-ag- e girls reported them as runaways when the girls didn't return home from school After checking with the school, they found out the two had not been there that day. A description of the girls was transmitted to all base patrols and local authorities. The mother of one of the girls called, two days later, to report they had returned home. A harassing phone call complaint was turned over to the OSI for investigation after the person complaining said he had been getting two or three such calls for the last four months.
