John Evans 2849th Security Police Squadron Vandalism New investigations Thieves have been active this past week at Hill. A government employee reported that a lock to Bldg. 128 had been tampered with by someone trying to gain entry; however, the attempt was unsuccessful. A person's military records were stolen from an unlocked room in Bldg. 520 on March 5. Two other thefts include a tool bag from a work area in Bldg. 225 and an Incidents of vandalism included a garage, door in Thunderbird Park which sustained $100 in damage. Also two thermostats and reset switches valued at $200 were damaged on March 7 in Bldg. 900. Alcohol incidents A civilian visitor was apprehended on 11th Street on March 7 for speeding, and while the officer was writing the ticket, he noticed an odor of alcohol. An intoxilyzer test was taken with a result of .18 percent blood alcohol content. The individual will appear in Federal Magistrate Court April 11. An individual was stopped on 12th Street for driving on the wrong side of the road. The officer noticed the odor of alcohol and an intoxilyzer test reported .16 percent. The individual will also appear in court April 11. were released to the custody of their parents. The second incident involved a civilian visitor who was apprehended at the South Gate during identification checks for possession of marijuana. The individual will face charges April 11 in Federal Magistrate Court. Jail checks Drug incidents Happily, no military members had been arrested off base according to Weber and Davis County Jails. Two incidents occurred last week with drugs. A Southwest Gate sentry detected the odor of marijuana from a vehicle which had just entered the base. The individuals in the vehicle were apprehended for possession of a controlled substance. They are crimes, criminal acts often used to symbolize rebellion against society and create a danger to our community. Everyone has to pay when theft and vandalism occur, either in the long or short terms. To curb the crimes everyone needs to become actively involved Program. Security police here recently initiated a Neighborhood Watch program throughout base housing areas. The program is one way citizens can help in crime prevention. The program; is a teamwork approach with neighbors looking out for neighbors within their area.
