Show HILL TOP TIMES Thursday, November 10, 1983 Dine people This People Line is for you. Your sugges- - . tions and comments will make Hill AFB a bet- this outstanding concert arrived too late for , SURE-PA- Q system to bank and in was the make sure my check my monies available to me by Friday evening. Upon trying to withdraw my money from the automatic teller machine at the Bank of Utah on two payday Fridays, I found I could not as it had no record of my deposit. It was not until Monday following payday that I was able to withdraw my money. Obviously the system does not work and I intend to withdraw from SURE-PAso that my money will be available by , Friday. , I signed up for the SURE-PA- Y Y, . A Automatic Teller Machines are relatively new in this area and the problem you have identified has never been addressed before,1 so we contacted the Bank of Utah to determine how' their ATM operates. We found that depositor accounts are updated on the bank's computer . with a memo posting. Your money is then available for withdrawal on Friday. If you query the ATM for a balance, it will not reflect the memo posting; however, you can still withdraw all monies in your account including those in a memo posting status. Our contact in the Bank of Utah stated that all memo postings were made on. schedule ing the month of September. Therefore, you , should have been able to withdraw your money through the ATM providing there were no extenuating circumstances such as an incorrect - account number. If you will contact our SURE. concert. A Your complimentary remarks about the Silver and Blue Band are very much appreci- ated. It's unfortunate that their outstanding performance was viewed by so few people. Investigation into the reasons for such poor attendance revealed that a breakdown occurred in efforts to publicize the event. Pre-evepublicity included base bulletin announcements and distribution of 600 flyers which described the event. Unfortunately, a newspaper arfor attendance ticle which may have increased , nt pre-eve- system Y nt S Y Traffic flow problems hazard is created by the backed Qtrafficsafety outside the South Gate which occurs A up when they have only one lane of traffic open into the base with one guard to handle it during the afternoon rush hour. Would it be possible to keep more than one lane of traffic open and " assign an additional guard to eliminate this problem? A Normally all traffic lanes entering base through the South Gate are open during the afternoon rash hour. There are times during which only two lanes or less of inbound traffic would be open; i.e., during robbery alarms, increased security vigilance, base commander directed vehicle inspections, ID card checks and many other possibilities. This allows the entry , controller greater control over inbound traffic. Air Force has not authorized us the manpower to post two entry controllers on, the gate. If you have additional questions please contact our NCOIC, Law Enforcement, MSgt. Croft, Ext. 75531. , Parking lot repairs Q Aan Parking lot 50 is in need of striping. Are there plans to have it accomplished? The striping of parking lots on Hill AFB is ongoing program. Parking lot 50 will be striped when the striping team can get the lot cleared and laid out. Y. : Lack of support Oct. 5 a patriotic concert was given Silver and Blue Band as part of Project Warrior. We would like to say that this presentation was very stirring and presented outstanding support of the U.S. Air Force. This group should be highly commended for their efforts in promoting the spirit that this country was built upon. As good as this presentation was, only 15 people attended. This does not project a positive attitude for this type of event, particularly by the people of Hill AFB when this group was promoting the U.S. Air Force. When such events are scheduled in the future, we recommend that commanders place more emphasis people to participate. Once again, . well done for the Silver and Blue Band for and provide -PAY specialist on specifics, we will be happy to research your prois the blem. We firmly believe that SURE-PAbest way to ensure your pay always gets to the financial institution of your choice. This cannot be done when checks are mailed to your home. I hope you will reconsider your decision to withdraw from SURE-PA777-PAY- publication. Poor attendance is attributed to the absence of publication in the base newspaper. , Although we have emphasized publicity for all Project Warrior events, it is apparent from your call that we must do a better job. Increased emphasis will be placed on publicizing these events to maximize attendance. I solicit your continued support and participation in these events. ... Thank you for your input. ter place in which to live and work. When you call, your comments will be recorded and staffed through the responsible agency for action. Remarks are recorded 24 hours a day. I welcome information on waste, fraud and abuse, and assure you that each lead will be " thoroughly investigated. Maj. Gen. Marc C.
