Purpose of his visit is to tour facilities of the Ogden Air Logistics Center and to gain further insight into the procurement functions of the Air Force Logistics Command. A topic of interest concerning this visit is the recent Department of Defense and Department of the Air Force initiatives concerning contractor overpricing for spare parts and other weapon system equipment items. . While here, Secretary Orr will receive briefings concerning Ogden ALC procurement activities, tour the contracting bid room and small business van, the depot maintenance line, the Technological Research of Advanced Concepts Office and present remarks on the subject of competitive pricing in the base theater to Hill personnel. He will also present several awards to Hill AFB 1 983 F ire e b olsiy Secretary Orr will depart Hill AFB early Tuesday morning. . - Air Force Association sponsoring symposium d This evening at 7 p.m. an cocktail party and Western style barbecue will be held poolside at the Ogden Hilton Hotel. The Utah Air Force Association state convention is in its second day today and carries a full agenda with some very important speakers par ticipating in its symposium. AFA-hoste- . Theme of the symposium which ends today, is "The U.S.7 Air Force into the 1990s." . " Activities slated Saturday include registration, a continental breakfast and business sessions at the Ogden Hilton. At 6 p.m., activities continue in the Officers' Club here with a cocktail hour from 6 to 7 p.m. and an awards banquet from 7 to 10 p.m. Keynote speaker at this event will be General Mullins. no--ho- st . Scheduled to appear this morning are Dr. Lawrence J. Korb, assistant secretary of defense, Manpower, Reserve Affairs and Logistics; Maj. Gen. Leavitt, Directorate of Materiel Management ; 388th TFW practices NATO deployment exercise Paq e 9 Air Force suspends contractors The Air Force has suspended 12 contractors from conducting business with the Executive Branch of the U.S. Government for one year, announced Secretary of the Air Force Verne Orr. The actions were based on evidence in two FBI affidavits that cited in- vestigations dating back to 1982. The affidavits indicate the firms and individuals were involved in irregularities in dealing with the government in acquiring spare parts. The Air Force Department and Suspension Board, headed by Lt.
