A specially-designe- d trophy and a three-day-, trip to Reno, Nev. will be included in the awards the two selectees will receive. Their names will also be engraved on a duplicate trophy which will be on permanent display in Bldg. 36. By Sgt. Ruth Trump 388th Public Affairs Two members of the 16th Aircraft Maintenance Unit have been selected to represent the 4488th Aircraft Generation Squadron in the 388th Tactical Fighter Wing Maintenance Professional of the Year competition. SSgt. Richard F. Proctor, a weapons systems technician, has been named as the squadron's top maintenance NCO. An integrated attack control systems specialist, SrA. Kimberly Barber, has been selected as squadron top maintenance airman. "Sergeant Proctor has demonstrated the ability to get to the heart of a problem and effect quality repair in minimum time. His expertise in all facets of his duties results in a 98 percent rate for all systems assigned," said Lt. Col. Richard Jaeger, 4488th AGS commander. Colonel Jaeger went on to say that Sergeant Proctor's personal contribution is significant in keeping 6 weapons systems in commission for the student training mission of the 16th AMU. The colonel also praised Airman Barber for her ability to provide the technical expertise needed to maintain the complex avionics systems used in the 6 aircraft. "Her ability and professional accomplishments far exceed the standards of her grade and experience." The Maintenance Professional of the Year program, initiated by Gen. W. L. Creech, commander, Tactical Air Command, is dedicated to recognizing maintenance personnel who provide direct support to mission aircraft. It is limited to personnel assigned direct labor duties in grades airman through technical sergeant. The competition starts at the work center level and culminates with a squadron selection of an airman and an NCO to represent the maintenance work force in the wing competition for the annual award.
