Ronald A. McKinch, an aircraft mechanic, received an award of $895 for a suggestion to combine several operations for removing panels of the tail section of F-- 4 aircraft into one work document card. The same suggestion was also applied to panels in other areas of the aircraft. Mr. McKinch's idea resulted in reducing the number of documents to be processed for the mechanic, foreman and supervisor, as well as reducing the labor standard hours previously required for the many operations under the old procedures. The Air Force realized a savings of $38,735. Loren K. Eddy, a machinist, was paid $665 for his suggestion. Before his suggestion, the hook point for the F-- 4 aircraft required several hours of machining to attain the tolerance required by the technical order. After his suggestion, the machining operation was eliminated and the welding shop authorized to weld the hook within the required tolerance, with additional hand grinding as necessary. The Air Force realized a savings of $14,430. Maurice T. Farmer, a sheet metal mechanic, earned $665 for his idea. He suggested bushing a repair of hinges on the F--4 aircraft wings. Applicable technical orders were supplemented to authorize the suggested procedures and have resulted in major savings of manhours and material, as well as restoring serviceability when assets are not available. The Air Force realized a savings of $14,530. Others who received suggestion awards r were: Directorate of Materiel Management: Dottie A. Bellach, $25; Raymond V. Thiel, $30; William H.
