Traffic signal time change Q off-ba- My complaint is concerning the traffic light at the corner of 6th Street and the Base Service Station. Traffic going north or south sometimes has to wait five or six minutes on the red light. Is there any way this long wait A traffic survey was made by traffic experts in Civil to of for determine time control signal length Engineering A at 6th and E Streets. North and south signals on E Street are timed as the survey dictated 20 seconds green and 50 seconds red. An improvement to control traffic at peak times is now being funded. This improvement consists of an additional circuit providing ouicker turning access by traffic actuation. Due to insufficient funds, this addition was not in the original design. Long distance calls Q items are personally reviewed by either the Commander or the Vice Commander of the Ogden Air Logistics Center. Remarks are recorded 24 hours a day. staffed, and a reply prepared. for us to call them collect to alleviate problems incurred. Since the latter part of May we can no longer dial out and operator unless we go through the switget an chboard. These lines are always busy. Are there any present plans to increase the number of lines for this purpose? can be alleviated? A All work in an area on base that deals with vendors that are located across the nation. Many times it is necessary I Publishing movie schedules se On May 1, 1978, the Mountain Bell System Company discontinued their break out of charges for long distance calls from Hill AFB. In other words, all long distance calls are billed to one number, and there is no way for the Communications Squadron or the Comptroller to trace the calls to a specific base number or verify the official nature of the call. Consequently, toll inhibitors were installed to reduce the number of unofficial and fraudulent calls. Though it has, to some extent, saturated the system, the toll diversion has proven effective and is saving the government hundreds of dollars per month. However, we do realize the inconvenience to bona fide users of the system and have taken the first step to provide more effective and efficient service by programming a 40 per e cent increase in operator assist trunking. This should greatly improve the present situation. off-bas- Q A Why isn't the movie schedule published in the Hill Top Times? The theater schedule is not prepared locally. When it is received, it is immediately forwarded to the Hill Top Times for publication. Occasionally, the schedule is received too late for publication in the paper. If this happens and you would like to know what is playing at the theater, dial ext. 2004, which has a tape recorded message with the theater schedule and other events happening on base. Apology The U.S. Air Force photographs accompanying the Hill Transient Alert article on page 10 of the June 30 issue of Hill Top Times were taken by Gregg Wixom of the base photo lab, rather than Phil Lyke, as originally reported.
