Show June HILL TOP TIMES 10. 1977 Page Humanitarian reassignments for child care More liberal humanitarian consideration reassignment for Air Force members who are granted sole custody of their children is included in the latest revision to AFR "Airman Assignments." Air Force Military Personnel Center officials said the policy applies to members who recently have been awarded "sole and complete custody, control and care" of children under the terms of a divorce or legal separation granted by a court. Although this regulation covers only 39-1- 1, airman the assignments, policy applies equally to of- ficers. Under previous policy, reassignments were granted only when an individual showed that it was completely impractical to care for children at the present duty location. Now, the individual needs only to show that such a move would allow him to make arrangements which would render him available for future worldwide duty. Reassignments under this provision for the sole purpose of facilitating child care will not be approved. The base Officer's Wives Club has donated $500 to buy new books to support the reading program. Registration began last Wednesday with younger children getting set in the "Dragster Dynamos" car race and those ages nine and above being "Ghost Writers" of a haunted house. Story hour is every Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. with puppets and film strips. The NCO Wives Club will donate refreshments after each session. Mr. Lander was given the honor at a breakfast by the Salt Lake Area Chamber of Commerce attended by civic dignitaries and Salt Lake City mayor, Ted Wilson. Mr. Lander is an instrument mechanic and Mr. Berry is his foreman in the Navigation Instruments, Photographic and Training Devices Division.
