(U.S. Air Force Photo) Page planners in the Directorate of Maintenance. MEDS produces and updates work control documents and establishes a realistic time tracking and status system. Initially programmed and piloted by Oklahoma City Air Logistics Center, the same tracking system has now been implemented and developed in a coordinated effort by Ogden ALC personnel in the Industrial Products and Landing Gear Division and Industrial Engineering Systems of Division, Directorate Maintenance and the Data Automation Branch, Ogden ALC Comptroller. Simplifying changes to work control documents to reflect technical data changes while shops undergoing and repair quickly tracking such items by location and repair status are now possible through MEDS. The accuracy of parts routing and sequence of operation in maintenance shops are directly dependent on validity of Work Control Documents (WCDs) that control sequences of critical operations and insures that parts move . through the maintenance process correctly and in accordance with the latest technical orders (TOs). MEDS produces and up- dates these WCDs and establishes the real time tracking and status system. The system requires use of remote terminals with keyboards to call up master and revises various fields of data before routing component parts through the shop processes. These ter WCDs tied directly to the computer in the Data Automation Branch, Comptroller, to provide immediate response. At the present time, the MEDS data base consists of formatted information for all and aircraft landing gear component parts. Future plans are to expand its coverage to other aircraft landing gear and workloads. Each time a WCD is generated from the master 360-6- 5 C-1- 41 C-5- A data base, a tracking and status reporting capability is established. This required input of the serial and stock number of component parts being worked when they move from one station to another. Through management, MEDS, scheduling, planning or production personnel can interrogate the system for information pertaining to status of work in process. Utah guard, helicopters and men training on Hill AF Base bombing, gunnery range Helicopters and personnel of the 396th helicopter attack unit of the Utah national guard are training on the Hill AFB bombing and gunnery ranges west of the Great Salt Lake. Up to six Huey helicopters will be practicing ricketry and gunnery and some of the guard troops will be billeted at the propellant testing facility range during the on the exercise. The exercise area is just north of the propellant facility. Training for the first contingent will end on June 18 with others training throughout the summer.
