Coming from a happy family of nine children who had many Air Force homes, including Okinawa, Lieutenant Gabreski said: "My father is the dynamic type who gets things done. He himself admits that he has always had pretty strong ideas about how to do things; he was never afraid to speak his mind." Colonel Gabreski has been much in demand for just that talent of his in recent years, having made hundreds of speeches to groups all over the country.
