OMITTED FROM LAST WEEK How did you like that north wind Saturday evening? Well it took it's tool in our neighborhood. A personal per-sonal friend of mine bit the dust. A sturdy old warrior that has stood out here on the canal bank as long as I can remember, gave up the fight and fell smack on his face, completely covering the road. Only a few of the beautiful old cottonwood trees are left now that marked Cropper Lane and made it a lovely shady drive for many, and a perfect Lovers Lane for quite a few of us. With a horse and buggy it lasted quite awhile where now the automobiles zip thru so fast they don's even know it's there. It took quite awhile for the three men folk . here on the . corner to drag off the smaller limbs so cars could get thru but it wasn't long till the telephone company was on the job to finish the clean up and repair the broken phone line. The staunch old tree had served as a telephone pole for a good many years. It was a beautiful place for birds to build nests and often it was covered with blackbirds. I've even seen pheasants resting in it When it's all said and done we were fortunate that it was only an old worn out tree that was destroyed, when we hear of the damage caused by the wind in Bountiful and that vicinity. Last Tuesday Erma Skeem was surprised by a visit from her brother broth-er Amnion Hampton and his son, Dell, of American Fork. They didn't stay long but they enjoyed the visit. Mr. and Mrs. Ed Skeem spent Sunday, 17th, in Tooele with their children, Kathleen and Joe Farris and family and Reed and Julie Skeem and their family. Ruby Skeem celebrated her x AIHIAIIAM MRS. AFTON FULLMEB A very large crowd was In the DHS auditorium Sunday to attend the Baccalaureate services for the 1970 graduates, with Lynn McKln-ley McKln-ley as guest speaker. To look at all those young people graduating was a beautiful sight. We congratulate congrat-ulate them and wish them all success suc-cess and a happy prosperous life. We had two grandchildren, Mrs. Patricia Fullmer Howard and Mrs. Catherine Corbett Stephenson in the Delta graduates, also one grandson by marriage, Gaylen ft -n Weevil tt :.hreat seem Unfortunately, it's been a good winter for alfalfa weevils. And serious weevil infestations are expected. So even though you've got a lot of jobs to do, don't overlook over-look your alfalfa. Don't let weevils slip in undetected and ruin it. It will pay you to check your fields carefully. Go out often and look for signs of larvae feeding. When you find three to five out of ten plants that show weevil damage, dam-age, get in there fast with a spray of Alfa-tox insecticide. Why Alfa-tox? Because it was designed for the job. We combined com-bined Diazinon and methoxychlor to provide effective killing power that lasts 2 to 3 weeks from a single sin-gle spr ay.To give you more days of control for your insecticide dollar. The combination controls a wide range of damaging insects in addition to weevil larvae. Yet it leaves no residue problems in meat or milk. You can cut or graze in just 7 days after spraying Alfa-tox. And Alfa-tox is easy to handle and use. No special safety clothing or devices are required. Just follow the label. You'll get consistent, dependable de-pendable control and a hay crop that will be worth it. For more information, write to Geigy Agricultural Chemicals, Div. of Geigy Chemical Corp., Ardsley, New York 10502. Alfa-tox by Geigy mmmm ;' ' A f I) T . i birthday Sunday.
