Bird Center The Senior Citizens of Millard County have started their one-day trips again this summer. Thursday, June 19, a group of 33 made a trip to Lehman Caves by bus. It was a delightful trip and everyone seem ed to enjoy themselves. The trip through the cave was a first for many. It took 1 hour and 45 minutes min-utes to go through as there were 46 in the group. At 1:30 p.m. a delicious pot-luck dinner was en joyed in the picnic area. A group of 14 people from Fill more met the Delta group at the center at 8 a.m. to go, so many new friendships were made. The next trip planned with the combined group will be on Thursday, Thurs-day, July 31, to Nephi Canyon. Call the Center to make reservations on the bus if you are interested in going. On June 5, a group of 16 went to the Jericho Sand Dunes up near Lynndyl. Other activities planned will be games, bingo and cards, at the Center at 8 p.m., June 26. A patriotic pat-riotic program, July 3 at 8 p.m. at the Center. The "Anniversary Party" will be on the lawn at the Eugene Gardner home, Thursday, July 10. Movie and games, July 17. and trip to Nephl Canyon, July 31 The Millard Council of Aging has recently been funded for the third year. McCULLOUGH REUNION All of the Hamilton McCulIough family have been home the past week. Especially for Father's Day and, also, to visit Anthony and Joyce Ivins and family, who are moving to Samoa. Mr. Ivins has recently been designated head of the Dept. of Religion for the IDS Church College on Western Samoa for three years. They left San Francisco Friday and will spend a week in Hawaii. Mr. Ivins served a mission in Ha waii a few years ago. Home for the occasion were Mr. and Mrs. Howard (Luana) and Brad, Deseret; Mr. and Mrs. Ferd (Darlene) Nielson and family, of Washington; Mr. and Mrs. Dave (Elsie) Thomas, Springville; Mr. and Mrs. Lee (Carol) Stewart and family, Washington. A number of relatives stopped in to visit, also. Sunday evening Elsie showed slides taken in New Zealand while she was on a mission mis-sion and pictures taken in Samoa by Mr. McCulIough when he was on his mission. 7,500 Read It In The CHRONICLE I 0 (0 i) Ever think how many ways electricity can save you money? With them Is Miss Barbara Evans, 4-H'er from Cheyenne, Wyo. WASHINGTON, D.C.-Mrs. Richard M. Nixon and J. C. Penney were named honorary co-chairmen co-chairmen of the National 4-H Club Foundation Advisory Council Coun-cil this week. The announcement came from Howard C. Harder, chairman of CPC International, Inc. (formerly Com Products Co.) and head of the advisory council. Harder explained that the council's first task will be to raise $8 million to expand the National 4-H Center in suburban Washington, Washing-ton, D. C. The First Lady and the 93-year-old department chain store founder met at the White House recently to discuss their part in 4-H. "America has always been a land rich in constructive youth leadership. Today the need for this is greater than ever," said Mrs. Nixon. "I am grateful, as are thousands of other Americans, Ameri-cans, that 4-H. through its Na tional Center, is helping youngsters young-sters develop responsible attitudes toward citizenship and leadership." leader-ship." Mrs. Nixon, who was a 4-H'er in Los Angeles County, Calif., also praised the 110 corporate executives backing the expansion campaign. "I shall always be an enthusiastic enthusi-astic supporter of the fine work of 4-H," said Penney, who received re-ceived a national 4-H citation from the members in April. . Four-H'ers from every stale have attended citizenship .and leadership training programs at the Center. Nearly 20,000 come each year. Now 4-H groups throughout the nation plan to raise one-fourth one-fourth of the expansion goal. The Center is the headquarters headquar-ters of the National 4-H Club Foundation a non-profit corporation corpo-ration that works in behalf of the Cooperative Extension Service. The production will be presented at the Music Hall, Cednr City, July 4 and 5, ISHio at 8:15 p.m. Mr. Tumor Is the so.-i of Mr. and Mrs. Reed Turner, Directing Is Blaine Johnson. The Drama Coach is Fred Adams, for-mer for-mer Deltan. Voice conch Is Rovtn De Foury and directing the orchestra orch-estra is Roy Hnlverson. Also appearing in the produo-tion produo-tion will be Sue Ann Turner, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs, Reed Turner. Miss Turner will play "Thea." Sheldon Jackson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Seth Jackson plays "Flat Foot the Cop." Also a member mem-ber of the cast Is Shirley C. Roper, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Merlin Christensen. SECOND WARD AREA NEWS BRIEFS EDDYS BARBEN Sunday evening, Elder David Taylor reported his mission. He has recently returned from the S. Calif. Mission. His parents, Mr. and Mrs. Lionel Taylor were also, in attendance. Mr. and Mrs. Paul Spor of Pro-vo Pro-vo were weekend visitors with their parents this week. Mr. Dennis Anderson of St. George spent the weekend with Gloria Adams at the John Adams Albert and Lucille Kimber spent Saturday and Sunday 'n Salt Lake with their son, Boyd and family, and the Boyd Warenski family. Their granddaughter, Ranee Warenski, War-enski, returned home with them for a 2-weeks visit in Delta. Mr. and Mrs. Kent Miller from Loves Park, 111., called their parents, par-ents, Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Miller, last week to wish Edwin "Happy Father's Day." SHIELDS FAMILY REUNION The James G. and Sarah Matilda Matil-da Shields reunion was held June 21, 19G9 in Delta at the Swimming Pool Park. The reunion was under the direction di-rection of the Buss Shields and Ar-dith Ar-dith Shields Terry families. A real good potluck dinner and visiting was enjoyed by the seventy-nine in attendance. A talk was given by Edwin Lyman, a trio, Deb Taylor, Merilee Clark and Barbara Lovell, acc. by Connie Con-nie Lovell. Bishop Glen Swalberg, Joe Barney and Grant Crane presided pre-sided at the meeting. Mr. and Mrs. Albert Kimber attended at-tended Sacrament Meeting, June 15 in Ogden, where they honored their grandson, Elder Ray Kimtier, son of DaWayne and Beth Kimber. Ray has been called to the Missouri Miss-ouri Mission. Mrs. Lucille Kimber attended a session at the Logan Temple last Thursday with DaWayne, Beth and Rayf when Ray received his endowments. en-dowments. Blaine Olson of Midvale, brother of David 01soni is spending a week or two in Delta visiting. Recently, Kimball Hanse Provo, attended a convention in Flagstaff, Arizona, and was privileged to read his own paper on research to an audience of astronomers.
