We are proud of our Guide Patrol. Pat-rol. Under the guidance of their leader, Mrs. Luanna Peterson they attended the physical fitness rally for all the Guide Patrols of the Stake at Delta and came home with two first places. Jesse Stevens, Craig Bishop and Mike Harris are the boys in this patrol. Craig took first place in the sack race and also al-so the rope climbing. He climbed fifteen feet of rope in nine seconds. sec-onds. Congratulations, Craig. Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Morris were visitors to Salt Lake on Friday. Allan Taylor came from Salt Lake to visit his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Ren Taylor on Friday. Mr. and Mrs. Ross Hilton of Pro-vo Pro-vo came to visit with their parents, Mr. and Mrs. R. P. Hilton and Mr. and Mrs. Randall Swensen over the weekend. Mr. and Mrs. Walter Ekins were Salt Lake visitors on Friday and Saturday. They had a very exciting excit-ing and thrilling experience. They went to see a show and in one of the shorts they saw their son Leo who has been on a mission to Denmark Den-mark the past two years. Leo will be home in March. Quite a coincidence. coinci-dence. Mario Carroll of Sandy has been visiting with Gaylen and Kathy Cropper a few days. His mother Mrs. Ken Carroll came down on Sunday to take him home. Mr. and Mrs. Dana Pratt and children, Marcia and Macy left on Thursday to visit Angie's sister and family, Mr. and Mrs. Jack Carson of San Francisco for the holidays. Mr. and Mrs. Alma Western entertained en-tertained at dinner their son Evan Western and family of Dugway on Thursday. YLt. Mario Morris and wife Pat and boys came from Logan Wednesday Wed-nesday to share their holidays with Mario's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Har-old Morris. Esther and Lowell Petersen went to Salt Lake to eat Christmas dinner din-ner with Edith and Kent Schlappi and then on to May Jean and Gerald Ger-ald Damrons for a few days visit. Mr. and Mrs. Randall Swensen and Dianne spent Thursday at Flowell visiting with Mr. Ree Brin-kerhoff Brin-kerhoff and children. Then in the evening the McCanns went to Payson to see Mr. and Mrs. Frank McCann. Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Lake and son are down for the weekend and plan to stay for New Year's Day at' the Kenneth Nielson home. Sunday afternoon Mr. and , Mrs. Ed Solethorp and son Hugh visited with the family, Mrs. Varda Barrett brot her children child-ren down to grandma and grandpa Johnsons home on the train last Thursday for a special holiday treat. The little one's had never had a train ride. Mr. Bill Barrett ! came for the weekend of festivities and then took his family home to Bountiful. Mr. and Mrs. David Nielson of Logan have been spending the holidays holi-days with Mr. and Mrs. Clinton Nielson. Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Bradfield and children and Mr. Wm. Mr. and Mrs. Waldo Warnick, Jr. and baby Sandra came from Granger Gran-ger to spend a few days w.th their families, Mr. and Mrs. Waldo War-nick War-nick and Mr. and Mrs. Harold Morris. Mor-ris. Harold and Belva Morris have had their children all home for the first time in two years th s holiday season. Ronald has been away on a mission and Mario in the service, so they have enjoyed this season very much. They had a family din ner on Sunday with Don, Cher.e, 1 Kevin and Jody; Mario, Pat, Jef-fery Jef-fery and Karolyn, Waldo, Sandra, and Ronald enjoying the feast. j Mrs. Mary Abbott and children of Spanish Fork came to see Mrs.! Clara Stewart before she left for Los Angeles. Duane Stewart came from Provo to take Clara to L. A. Alton Theobald and wife Irene had their daughter Susan Tanner and little girls from Salt Lake and son Deloy from Los Angeles here for the holidays. Douglas Spencer went to Salt Lake to the hospital on Thursday to have his stitches out and a check up on the condition of his shoulder. Mr. and Mrs. Blaine Spendlove and girls Mary and Elaine went to Nephi to Paul and Kathleen Dam-ron's Dam-ron's wedding reception on Friday and then on to Smithfield to visit with Harriet's mother Mrs. Merrill for the weekend. The Coalesce Club had a pot-luck pot-luck party at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Daryl Cropper on Saturday night. Members attending were Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Morris, Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Palmer, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Hepworth, Mr. and Mrs. Gene Bishop, Mr. and Mrs. James Christensen and Mr. and Mrs. Wesley Wes-ley Peterson. After enjoying the food brot they all joined in playing play-ing games for the even;ng. A good time was had by all. Sacrament services Sunday evening even-ing was given by college students home for the holidays. Exceptionally Exceptional-ly good gospel sermons were given by Janet Reeve, Ema Lea Taylor and Melvin Hepworth. Noreen Reeve played a beautiful piano solo. Bishop and Mrs. Dutson spent Chr.stmas day in Granger with son Elwood and family. Wednesday they drove to Fillmore to visit with Mr. and Mrs. Merrell Dutson and children. They brot granddaughter, Ilene back with them to spend a few days. Saturday her parents came after her and spent the day in Leamington. Mrs. Clara Johnson had all her children home during the holidays except Shirley, who is in Page, Ariz. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Grygla had their baby blessed in the Delta Del-ta First Ward Sunday at Sacrament meeting. They named him Gary Lee. She stayed w ith them several days of the holi- dav week Mrs. Ruth Finlinson spent the Christmas holidays with her sister, Enid Coleman in Salt Lake. Sunday Mr. and Mrs. Rich Finlinson and three children drove into dinner at Mr. and Mrs. Bob Weagle's and brot Ruth back home with them. Mrs. Violet Nielson spent Christmas Christ-mas w iiii her grandchildren at the Grant Nielson home and stayed for several days. Mr. Grant Nielson drove into Og-den Og-den Friday on business. Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Ashby have been spending the Christmas holi- Mr. and Mrs. Sheldon H. Talbot of Orem, announce the birth of a daughter, Dec. 15 in the Utah Valley Val-ley Hospital. She was welcomed home by brothers, Richard Lee and Michael H. Grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Russell H. Talbot, Panguitch and Mr. and Mrs. Leland Sanderson, of Delta. MRS. LeROY McGUIRE Announcement oS Marriage Made Mrs. Evva Wilkins announces the marriage of her daughter, Karen W.lk.ns to Mr. LeRoy McGuire, of Satulpa, Okla. i The couple exchanged wedding vows in Elv, Nevada, Sunday, Dec. 30th. They are making a home in Salt Lake Ctiy where Mr. McGuire is employed. ELI A THIRD WARD BEA WILLDEN This will be the last time I write any news for the year of 1962. I hope '63 is a better year for everyone. every-one. I missed getting my news printed print-ed in time for last week's paper so will try to jot down last week's first. Many people returned home for the holidays and will be leaving again Wednesday. Last Sunday, Dec. 28, we had a missionary report by Elder Stanley Moulton. He just returned from a two year mission in the New England Eng-land States mission. He gave a fine report. Many people attended. His mother Manilla Moulton, who is making her home in Provo, also most of his brothers and sisters were here to hear his fine report. Mr. and Mrs. Denton Moulton and family, his sisters, Beatrice, Jane, and Deon were here. I don't know their married names. Home with the Callisters were Sheldon and family, Robert and family, fa-mily, Raymond and family, and Joan Callister. The young college kids I saw were Mava Whicker, Shirley Bunk er, Jeri Ashby, Margaree Wr.ght, Elsie McCullough and Scott Anderson. And-erson. Mr. Ted Largent and family spent the Christmas week with his mother, Mrs. Jennie Largent and sister, Mrs. Bonnie Ivie. We had our award n'ght and a big group of girls received awards. There were 44 awards given to the young girls and eleven leaders. Mr. and Mrs. Earl Holman and family and Mrs. Lily Dawson and family spent Christmas in Provo w.th their children, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Harris and Mr. and Mrs. and April Dawson stayed in Provo for the rest of the holidays. Mr. and Mrs. Reed Wood had their children home, Spencer, Wal-ly Wal-ly and Margaret. Mr. and Mrs. Duane Jeffery were home for Christmas with the Eldro Jefferys. Mr. and Mrs. Agnes Myers spent Christmas in Salt Iake w,th their son and family, Mr. and Mrs. Elmo Myers. Mrs. Zola Lambtfght and Merrill were in Tooele for Christmas Mr. and Mrs. Darrell Willden came from Mesquite, Nev., to spend Christmas w.th their parents. Mrs. Ila Forster went to Gunnison Gunni-son to be with the Gordon Phillips ily Christmas day. Mrs. Glen Harder brot her daughter daug-hter Becky down to spend the nite with Miss Dena Harder last Friday Fri-day she drove on to Delta to see her folks after visiting with Mr. and Mrs. Dean Harder. Mrs. Walker Finlinson has been spending the holiday week with her brother Frank Jones and his family fam-ily in Provo. She went in with Mrs. Grant Nielson and they bot?j attended at-tended a S nger Sewing Machine class. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Jones and family brot her home Monday, the 31st. Mr. and Mrs. Carl Chappell and son of Pittman, Nev., are in visiting visit-ing with Mr. and Mrs. Randall Bradfield over the New Year holiday. holi-day. Mr. and Mrs. Randall Bradfield spent Christmas holiday with Dee and family in Sandy. The Veterans had a big holiday' dance Saturday nite. It was a big, success. Sunday night the testimonial for Elmo Dean Neilsen was held in the Leamington Ward. The house was filled to capacity. He reports Into Salt Lake mission home Monday, the 7th and will leave via plane for Denmark on the 15th. Couple Honored At Reception Miss Carol Wood became the bride of Mr. Donald Fred Gavin of Salt Lake City in ceremonies performed per-formed by Bishop Merlin D. Chris-tensen Chris-tensen Dec. 15 at the home of the bride's aunt and uncle, Mr. and Mrs. Nels Anderson. Parents of the newlyweds are Mr. and Mrs. Lon Wood and Mr. and Mrs. Fred Gavin, Delta. The couple greeted guests that evening at openhouse under an arch of flowers and pink and silver bows. The br de was lovely in a ballerina bal-lerina length gown of delustered satin with long tapered sleeves and a bodice of lace and sequins with matching panels of lace down the front of the skirt. A tiara of sequins released her shoulder-length shoulder-length ve.l. She carried a bridal bouquet of white and pink carnations carna-tions in a cascade arrangement. Attending the bride were Miss Sandra Terry as Maid of Honor and Miss Bertha Perkins and Mrs. Peggy Peg-gy CelluCi as bridesmaids. They were gowned in pastel shades and wore corsages of white and pink carnations. Mr. Rodney Ivie assumed duties as best man for the groom. In charge of the guest book was Shirley Iverson. Reliance Wood was in charge of the gift room. Re-ce Re-ce ving gifts were Gail Wood, Rose Watson, cousins of the bride, and Beverly Wood, a niece. Serving refreshments, were the bride's sisters, Bonnie and Nadine Wood and Kay Wood and Margo Watson, cousins. The -couple honeymooned in Salt Lake C ty. Those who attended from out of town were her sister and husband, Mr. and Mrs. Max (Marjean) McCellin, of Kearns; Mr. and Mrs. Joe Groff, of Salt Lake City; and aunts and uncles Mr. and Mrs. Cloy Talbot,' Mr. and Mrs. P. V. WijUs, and Mr. and Mrs. Roy Twitche'U. Home for the holidays were Mr. and Mrs. Donald May. visiting with the Jan Wrights. AND MRS. DONALD FRED GAVIN WEST DESERT ROUND UP VELMA The Callao School held a Christmas Christ-mas program Dec. 20. People came from Gandy, Trout Creek and Callao. Mr. and Mrs. Sam Falkenburg went to Las Vegas to visit their children for the holidays. Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Judd and two boys and Mr. and Mrs. Larry Graham spent Christmas in Trout Creek with their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Leo Lee. Ellen S ms is home for the holidays. holi-days. Verna, Betty and Mary Sims are home from school. Santa Claus made his rounds Christmas Eve to delight all the children. Ol'ver Tripp spent Christmas 'o more peace and happiness. We enjoyed having Bonnie home for the holidays. After dinner Al and I took her back to Salt Lake where she is attending beauty school. We made the trip up and back in six hours. What a long ride. Miss Darla Ann Terry was home for Christmas with her family, the Mont Cooks. The Callao Ward held a Christmas Christ-mas program Dec. 23rd. A large crowd attended. Mr. and Mrs. Thayne Maxfield spent a few days shopping in Salt Lake City. Eric came home Friday morning from Ventura, Ven-tura, Calif., where he is employed and he and Coleen went to Salt Lake to visit their grandmother, Mrs. Hilda G lien. They were en-route en-route home when the accident occurred. oc-curred. Both were hospitalized for a week. They were released and returned home Sunday and are enjoying en-joying visits from friends.
