Show Millard County Chronicle FROM THE FILES 40 Years To Search Oil in Millard Co. According to the Salt Lake Herold-Republican-Telegram, two new oil companies will soon be operating op-erating in Millard county. These two new industries should make prosperous times for this county in spite of the war, should they be successful in bringing oil. We have always had faith in the presence of large deposits of oil in Millard county, and now that the field is to he exploited we feel confident that our faith is to be justified, providing, always, that the promotion is legitimate. The New Post Road Ass't State Eng. S. L. Miles and his assistant are hefe and have been since the last of the week, working on the survey of the new Gov't post road between Delta and Kanosh. They started east from Law's store and in their survey, the location of the read will be governed entirely by the lay of the land and nature of the soil in the location of the road It will be made an excellent driveway and will cost when completed something some-thing like $1 400 per mile. The construction con-struction of this road and the completion com-pletion of the outlet to the city by way of Lynndyl will mean that s. great deal of tourist travel will be directed this way. Hinckley Born, to Mr. and Mrs. Don T. Bishop, a girl, June 1st. Mother and child doing well. The electric light plant at Oasis OASIS MRS. LAVEDA BISHOP i Mr. and Mrs. Gary Norton from South Gate California, arrived last Wednesday to visit their mother, Mrs. Betsy Skeem and brothers and sisters and friends who live in this part of the country. They expect ex-pect to leave the middle of the week to return home. Mr. and Mrs. Russel Styler went ta Salt Lake Saturday and brought their father Mr. Lafe Olsen back with them. He has been in the hospital Tor some time having had an operation. He will remain with Russell and Jennie a while to convalesce. con-valesce. There were quite a few relatives and friends who visited in our community com-munity for Memorial Day, among them were Mr. and Mrs. Art Simons Sim-ons and 2 grandchildren from Nebraska Neb-raska and Mrs. Thelma Clark and son Raymond from Salt Lake, Mr. Ernel Johnson from Salt Lake and Miss Annie Johnson from Calif, who visited with Mr. and Mrs. Peter H. Peterson. Mr. and Mrs. Lars Hansen and children Merle, Marlow, Don and Betty Nelson and their three sons from Salt Lake and Mr. and Mrs. McRay Evans and baby from Salt Lake visited at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Cahoon. Eldon and Jo Cahoon and little daughter 'from Panguitch spent the weekend with their parents Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Cahoon. Mr. and Mrs. Glen Brush from Chester Calif, and Mr. and Mrs. LeMoine Bond and family from Salt Lake City visited their parents par-ents Mr. and Mrs. David Nichols over the week end. Increasing Capitol Stock A meeting of the directors of the Delta State Bank will be held tomorrow, at which time steps will be taken to increase the capitol stock of the bank 'from $20,000 to $25,000. Salt Lake City visited relatives and friends over the weeknd. The Kelly Hawley residence was their headquarters. Mr. and Mrs. Alf Bishop from Salt Lake City spent the weekend with their brother and sister, Mr. and Mrs. Albert Johnson. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Anderson and family from Ephraim visited their parents Mr. and Mrs. J, Val Styler last Thursday. Art and Telia Strang and daughter daugh-ter Norma and Mark and Reva Dunn from Salt Lake City visited their brothers Fon and Kelly Hawley Haw-ley over the weekend. They were guests at the Fon Hawley home. Mr. and Mrs. Kelly Hawley and Mr. and Mrs. Glen Skeem left Mon day on a trip to Calif, to se Mr. and Mrs. Gary Webb and other relatives re-latives and friends in that part of the country. They will visit in Las Vegas, Nevada with Kelly's brother Rollo and his family also. Little Kay Willoughby was confirmed con-firmed a member of the church last Sunday In Sacrament meeting and the infant son of Carl and June Stanworth was blessed and given the name of James Edward. Bishop Ralph Skeem pronounced the blessing. Little James' two grandmothers grand-mothers and a great grandmother were present for the occasion. A special program Sunday evening even-ing was sponsored by the Sunday School. The Theme "Feed My Sheep".Talks were given by Brent Skeem, Sherri Ann Howell, Eric Gillen, Paul Ludwig, Fon Hawley and Bishop Lawrence Cropper. The Junior members of the Sunday Sun-day School sang a song under the direction of Beth Day with Loenza Willoughby accompanist. Jenet Stanworth sang a solo, "I Am A Child of God" and was accompanied ac-companied toy her mother Ila Stanworth Stan-worth at the piano. Mr. and Mrs. Clark Bishop and their mother, Mrs. Agnes Hutchings drove to Orem last Wednesday where they visited with relatives. Mrs. Hutchings went on to Salt Lake and the Bishops came back to the ever lasting chores. Mr. and Mrs. Jerold Bishop and baby Danny from Las Vegas Nev. arrived last Thursday night. They visited their parents Mr. and Mrs. Clark Bishop and Mr. and Mrs. Wallace Holman. Jerold went back Sunday and Wally and Danny will Woman's Paje Society MISS GRACE Miss Grace Marie Warnick has been awarded a $300 National 4-H scholarship for her work in 4-H Safety Program. She will use the scholarship to further her education at Utah State University, where she is majoring in Home Economics Education. Grace was Utah winner in 1055 in Safety, and was named alternate National winner at the 4-H Club Congress. This year the scholarship is made available to Grace. She is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Waldo Warnick, of Delta RFD. Since graduation from Delta High School two years ago, Grace has spend this week for a longer visit. Mr. and Mrs. George Kelly from Helper were guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Robison Thursday Friday and Saturday. They also visited with Oscar Kelly and Biah Sjostrom and other relatives re-latives and friends. Mr. and Mrs. Reed Swensen and family from Salt Lake visited their parents Mr. and Mrs. Enoch Gillen over the weekend. OAK CITY MRS. MAE H. H. Anderson afterwards, a mixed quartett by Kenneth Finlinson, William Dutson, Roberta Lovell and Jolinda Alldredge. Talk by Janet Finlinson and Bishop Roper gave the response to the challenge "Feed My Sheep". Prayers were by Gayle Nielson and Lyman Finlinson. Miss Lavern Anderson is home from Idaho for a few days where she expects to go to Salt Lake with her sister Colleen. Mr. and Mrs. Clarence East of Provo were Oak City visitors over the holidays. Mr. and Mrs. Glen Christensen and Mr. and Mrs. Grant Christensen visited from Provo. Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Howes and children visited a 'few days with parents Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Nielson their home is at Clearfield. Mr. and Mrs. Willard Christensen had their daughter Rema and family fam-ily and also their daughter Hazel visiting over the holiday weekend. Mrs. Twiss Nielson had her son Delynn and wife visiting this week. Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Tolbot and Mrs. Myrtle Anderson from Ogden visited in Oak City for Memorial Day holidays. A large audience attended the sacrament and fast day services immediately following Sunday School two babies were blessed and named the little daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Anderson was named Karen and the little son of Mr. and Mrs. Dean Anderson was named Daniel Dean. Both babies were named and blessed by their fathers with grandfathers and Bishopric assisting. Mr. Brent Palmer from Cedar City a former missionary companion of David Finlinson and who has just returned from his assignment in the service, visited at the Grant Finlinson home. Bishop and Mrs. Melvin Roper celebrated their silver wedding anniversary an-niversary Sunday night after church with a few friends and relatives congratulations on the quarter century cen-tury milestone of this couple and their family. There were about 23 present. Mr. and Mrs. Dana Dodge and family from Salt Lake City and Mr. and Mrs. Reed Talbot and son George and dauhter Glenda and her little son Bevan from St. George were in Oak City for Memorial Day. The Dutson reunion enjoyed a temple excursion Thursday at Man-ti Man-ti Temple a dance Friday night which was well attended. Their meeting and program was Saturday morning with refreshments at noon, which made a very interesting time for the Dutsons. The Rebecca Dut- son Jacobson family were sponsors for this years reunion. Orlan Jacobson, Jac-obson, president with Louis Nielson idents. Relatives come from San Francisco Idaho, Logan, Beaver and other places. Mrs. Ronald Anderson is spending a week visiting in Oak City and Delta, from their home at Santa Barbara Calif. Mrs. George H. Anderson honored her daughter Merdith with a Trousseau Tea at her home Sunday afternoon, which many ladies enjoyed. en-joyed. Primary graduation was held Thursday May 29 at Oak City Chapel. Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Lovell were in Salt Lake Wednesday for Medical Med-ical checkups. Mrs. Marlene Schmutz and children child-ren from St. George visited this week in Oak City. Stapley, son of Mr. and Mrs. J. Earl Stapley, of Cedar City. Their marriage vows will be made Monday, June 9, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. They will be honored at a reception re-ception on Saturday evening, June 14 at the home of the 'bride's parents, par-ents, from 7:30 until 10:00 p.m. Their home for the coming year will be made in Salt Lake City, where Mr. Stapley is studying electrical engineering at the University Uni-versity of Utah. He will receive his degree next year. This is the first visit with his grandparents grand-parents for Gary, now eight months old. Bill and BerDeane Nelson are now making a home in Grand Junction, Jun-ction, Colo., where Mr. Nelson is employed. Mr. Nelson came to Delta last week to move the hous-hold hous-hold and take the children, Sandra, Jerry and Terry, and Tanya, who finished the school year here. Weekend visitors at the home of Mr. and Mrs. A. O. Gardner were Mrs. Gardner's sister, Miss Harriet Campbell, and friend, Donald B. Miller, of Ogden. Mr. and Mrs. Gardner took them to Lehman Caves and then on to Las Vegas, Nev., for a short visit. On Memorial Day visitors at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Don T. Bishop Bish-op in Delta were Mr. and Mrs. Ed Bishop and their son Dean and wife, and two children, from Sandy, Mr. and Mrs. Milo Bishop and Mr. and Mrs. Heber Bishop, of Hinckley. Mrs. Zona Hawley. who has been at LaPuente, Calif., for the past four months visiting her daughter, Mrs. A. L. Petty, returned to her home at Delta for Memorial Day and the summer.
