"Smokey Joe's Cafe" is a musical review of the greatest hits of the '50s and '60s. It includes such classics as "Jail House Rock," "Stand By Me," "Don't Be Cruel," "On Broadway" and "Hound Dog," all creations of legendary leg-endary songwriters Jerry Leiber and Mike Stoller, the Rodgers and Hammer-stein Hammer-stein of Rock 'n Roll. Leiber and Stoller, as much as anyone, virtually invented rock 'n roll. Their songs represent a golden age of American culture. Artists such as Elvis, The Coasters, The Drifters, Ben E. King and Peggy Lee made "Smokey Joe's Cafe"s" songs popular. "Smokey Joe's Cafe," Broadway's longest running run-ning musical review, harnesses har-nesses the power of an era of music that changed the world in a raucous night of musical theater that broke records on Broadway and has audiences and critics singing and dancing. "Smokey Joe's Cafe" will be presented March 11, 12, 14, 18, 19, 21, 25, 26 and 28. Those who wish more information may contact Eldon Randall at 830-3119.
